Did Simon Cowell diss Dancing with the Stars?
March 31st, 2010 under American Idol 9+, Dancing with the Stars, Simon Cowell. [ Comments: none ]

(starts at 5:55 in)

Yesterday after Did Benami butchered What Becomes of the Broken Hearted on American Idol, Simon seemed to compare her performance to the singers on a competing network’s reality show. The King of Mean said, “If you listen to one of those dancing shows, they have the singers,, you know, murdering a song on it…If you ever watch it. That’s what it kind of (sounds like.)” As Simon was being interrupted by Randy Jackson he had the biggest mischievous smile on his face, so he totally knew what he was doing and was waiting for the opportunity to use the comparison. So I wonder was he referring to Dancing with the Stars or could it be another show he was talking about? He probably isn’t referring to Randy Jackson’s show on MTV America’s Best Dance Crew because they use recorded tracks. So if it is DWTS, I think he was so right. Every Monday night I wonder what songs Harold Wheeler and the DWTS band will destroy and then every Tuesday night I wonder what songs the American Idol singers will destroy. It is like every Monday and Tuesday is like a line from the Don McLean song American Pie…”The day the music died.” Instead of the meaning behind McLean’s version of the deaths of three rock’n’roll legends in a plane crash, it is the music being killed off song by song by bad singers and horrible arrangements on both shows.
If I had to chose which show was worse then I think Dancing with the Stars is worse because they have never ever made a song better, some American Idol contestants have reworked a song to make it better than the original. Not that often, but there have been a few times that has happened.

Why does American Idol hate us so much?

Why does American Idol hate us so much? For the last 8 seasons we have made the show the #1 show of the season, and we are continuing to do so for the 9th one even though they have chosen to dislike us for some reason. First they let Paula Abdul leave the show instead of Kara DioGuardi and replaced her with Ellen DeGeneres who has proven to be a dud thus far. Then they let Simon Cowell quit the show after this season. OK, so that just effects the judging part of the show. What about what they have to judge? This year’s crop of singers is the worst group yet. They might be the best looking, but they are also the most boring. Last week’s Rolling Stones show was not painful, it was just extremely lackluster. So how is the show going to pep it up tonight’s episode on Fox when the 11 finalists put us to sleep with Billboard #1 hits…they are going to have Miley Cyrus mentor them. And to make it worse Disney’s newest fake couple Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas are going to perform on tomorrow night’s result show and so will this week’s mentor Miley Cyrus.
So once again I ask, American Idol what did we do to you to make you hate us so much???

American Idol’s Top 12 perform tonight
March 16th, 2010 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: none ]

(photo from Fox)

Finally after months of waiting, tonight at 8p the Top 12 perform songs from The Rolling Stones on Fox’s American Idol. They are Bottom Row L-R: Lacey Brown, Katie Stevens and Lee Dewyze. Middle Row L-R: Tim Urban, Andrew Garcia, Crystal Bowersox and Paige Miles. Top Row L-R: Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Didi Benami, Siobhan Magnus and Michael Lynche. CR: Michael Becker, just in case you still don’t know who they are. At this point in the competition it looks like Crystal Bowersox is the one to beat, but she could get boring fast if she sings the same type of song week after week. Really when it comes down to it, this is the worst group of singers to make it this far which makes me wonder if Paula Abdul was the one who really saw who had the potential of being the next Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. So far Ellen DeGeneres has proven to be dud by just telling the singers what they should sing and they were really good. On a positive note at least she hasn’t been as cheesy as she was when she judged on So You Think You Can Dance. Kara DioGuardi has gotten a little better, but she is still unwatchable. Randy Jackson is the same old dog. And Simon Cowell has one foot out the door and another body part with his fiancee’…his heart, get your mind out of my normal gutter! Am I the only who thinks this season was over as soon as we heard Pants on the Ground? It was like William Hung all over again.

The best American Idol group number ever!!!
March 11th, 2010 under American Idol 9+, Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the writers reworked last week’s American Idol’s Top 20 group number to Black Eyed Peas I’ve Got A Feeling and turned into a song for the devil. I so wish that was real because that is the best group number I have ever seen on the show. Seriously how brilliant was that video and how awesome was it how they matched up to their song to what they were originally singing?
Tune into Fox at 8p to find out who will become American Idol’s Top 12 and then tune into Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC at 12:06a to see him interview Nicole Richie.

BTW one more Idol/Kimmel note, yesterday on the show they also pointed how Randy Jackson repeats everything Simon Cowell says. I guess Randy is trying to mimic Simon so that when he is gone next season we won’t miss him, dog.

Simon Cowell talks about his wedding plans!
March 9th, 2010 under American Idol 9+, Simon Cowell. [ Comments: 1 ]

Simon Cowell was on The Tonight Show and Jay Leno asked him about his wedding plans. The American Idol Judge was very coy about all the details, but the one telling thing from this interview is how much he loves Mezhgan Hussainy. How nice was it to see the toughy be all mushy over her! Wonder if he will fell the same way when she files for divorce and gets half of his billions? I joke, I think they will last.
BTW who else is bummed that when Simon brought his finacee’ out on to stage with him, he didn’t do what Tom Cruise did on Oprah Winfrey and jumped up and down on the couch? Such a missed opportunity because it started out the same way.
