Jennifer Lopez is quitting American Idol
July 13th, 2012 under American Idol 9+, J-Lo. [ Comments: none ]

A day after Jennifer Lopez said she hadn’t made a decision whether or not she would stay on American Idol and Steven Tyler announced he was leaving the Fox show, J-Lo confirmed to Ryan Seacrest she she is quitting the singing the competition. She said it was not an easy choice but she has too much on plate and just can’t give the show the commitment it needs.
I say good riddance because I have never liked her and she added nothing to the show. She was too nice and boring.
So now Randy Jackson is once again the lone judge and I think it is time for him to go. Actually I think it was time for him to go a long long long time ago. If the rumors are true that he is a package deal with Mariah Carey then I think she needs a new manager. Carey would be great because unlike J-Lo she can sing. Plus she was married to one of the biggest record producers in history. She knows what it takes to creaye a music star unlike the other judges.

Steven Tyler out
July 12th, 2012 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: none ]

Fox announced today that Steven Tyler has opted to leave American Idol in order to do what the people he has been judging for the last two have not been able to. You know he is going to concentrate on his successful music career. The Aerosmith singer said this in the Fox statement, “After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” said Tyler. “I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover…On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars…IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it…Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.” I am going to miss my hometown boy being on the Fox singing competition, not because I watch the show anymore but because I will miss Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Creepy Leer of Nights.
Tyler’s departure makes room for Idol to hire a judge who is a third of his age and much less qualified, but have any of the judges actually offered anything worthwhile?
Personally I think Idol should get rid of the judges (since it looks J-Lo is also leaving and Randy Jackson should leave) and do what American Bandstand did to judge singles with the Rate-a-Records segment. Just let two fans from the audience rate the singers, since we are the ones who are or aren’t going to spend money on the winner’s CD. Personally I think we know more about music than the judges since we buy it and they just make it.

Jennifer Lopez hints at American Idol departure?
July 12th, 2012 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: none ]

Jennifer Lopez was on Today this morning to talk about Ice Age 3, and the anchor took the chance to ask her if she plans to return to American Idol for another season. You can tell she is wishy washy about her decision as she told Natalie Morales, “I know everybody wants that definite ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ and … all I can let you in on is my own thought process with it, because that’s where I truly am. And the truth is, I love everybody. I love all the guys on the show. I love the family that’s there. Like I said, I’ve just enjoyed it so much. But I am thinking that maybe it’s time for me to go and do other things that I really love to do.”
Is this her way of saying she is ready to move on or is it a way for her to get more money out of Fox? Over the last week there have been rumors that the Fox singing competition is looking for new judges to replace Steven Tyler and/or Randy Jackson and/or J-Lo. But when it comes to the first two names, it seems like the network wants them replaced and they will do anything to keep J-Lo. So could she be using the press for the animated movie as a ploy to get more for her to return. I mean I can see her thinking that she is worth twice as much Britney Spears and not just $5 million more than her.
Here’s my thoughts if she is whining about taking a break from doing some of the things she enjoys to make $20 million for 6 months of work, then she should be grateful that she has all that money. So grateful that she gives it to charity. When was the last time you heard that one of these judges/hosts of these reality shows give money to charity? With all of their millions in this economy, it would be nice if they spread the wealth. J-Lo is from The Bronx, when was the last time she gave something back. I mean we all know she didn’t even go back for the Fiat commercial. Seriously what do they do with all of that money because you can’t take it with you.

American Idol and X Factor rumors
July 9th, 2012 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: none ]

(photo from WENN.com)

Shortly after American Idol’s season ended there were rumors that Jennifer Lopez was leaving the show, and today E! is reporting who they hear might replace her and possibly also Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson. The first name they mentioned was season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert. He’s the only contestant to have a #1 album since season 5 winner Carrie Underwood, but is that a reason to hire him for the job? Personally I can’t stand him and I think he would be bitchy just to be bitchy. Seriously when I read he was the only name mentioned, I was so happy I gave up the show last year. I know I am supposed to support my Bronx brethren, but I just couldn’t do it. Sorry Steven, I still have Riverdale pride for you in every other way.
Now as upset I was to only see his name being consider another E! reporter threw out some more names. Watch with Kristin added a few more singers to hat, she said that the Fox big wigs are also considering Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Fergie, Katy Perry and will.i.am for the job. If you remember back when Simon Cowell, Kara Dioguardi and Ellen DeGeneres left the show, there were so many names mentioned you never knew was going to be the new judges on the singing competition. Well I think it is going to be the same here.
Now when it comes to The X Factor Mark Malkin, he has a few names on how might host the fall singing competition. The list includes George Clooney’s flavor of the year Stacy Keibler, Khloé Kardashian Odom, Kelly Osbourne, Mario Lopez, BET’s 106 & Park host Terrence J, Erin Andrews, who just left ESPN for Fox Sports and Dancing with the Stars and The Choice loser Mike Catherwood. So what do I think of that group of people? I think I am so happy I didn’t watch that show because they are annoying people who, for the most part, I didn’t like on DWTS and I wouldn’t like as hosts for the show.
I guess Fox is going for the younger names, but does that mean they are qualified. For the most part, I don’t think they are.

Is Simon Cowell going through some tough economic times?
June 28th, 2012 under American Idol 9+, Simon Cowell. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since Simon Cowell left American Idol to do The X Factor things don’t seem to be as good for him and his shows. Plus the rumor is that he paid Britney Spears a lot of money to be on the Fox singing competition show. Up until now I never thought he would be hurting financially because he made a lot of money off his in front of and behind the camera work. But then today he Tweeted a picture of him riding a scooter and I have to wonder if the man that loves to drive very expensive cars is finally feeling what the rest of us are going through with this crappy economy? Nope he said this with the picture from the Providence auditions, “No car showed up for me today….” While I did get some satisfaction that he had to find his own way to get to work, I enjoyed my theory more.
