ABC announced its 2019-2020 schedule and it is mostly the same. Tuesdays are going to be a problem spot for them. They think Bless the Mess is going to do well. However, after a strong debut, its ratings have dropped faster than their bad jokes. Also, they love black-ish more than the viewers. Young Sheldon has a hard time finding an audience, why do they think mix-ish will have an easier time finding one? It would have had a better chance if they aired it after The Conners.
As a fan of Station 19, I hate that I have to wait for it to come back for the depressing drama A Million Little tissues.
I feel for American Housewife. The poor show has had more timeslots than it is has had seasons. Maybe it would have a better chance of finding an audience if they kept in one place for more than a few weeks.

Remember when Ellen Pompeo said that next season was going to be her last on Grey’s Anatomy. Well, she lied. That is because ABC announced today that they picked up the longest-running medical drama for two more seasons. Everyone keeps telling me, you cannot do Grey’s without Meridith Grey. Therefore, I guess, she is not going anywhere until at least after season 17.
Personally, I think they can do it without her. Although, I have only watched one episode this season and it was awful. I do not get why people love it so much. I only watched that episode because it was a crossover with Station 19. That firefighter drama I like, so I am happy it got renewed too. However, I am bummed they are going to do more crossovers with Grey’s. If they do too many, then I might have to quit Station 19.
Oh and ABC picked up How to Get Away with Murder too. That drama should be renamed How Not to Get Cancelled Even Though No One Watches. Too bad they didn’t tell For the People the secret because that is the one Shonda Rhimes show that will not be back next season.
UPDATE 1: ABC is not laughing because they cancelled The Kids Are Alright, Speechless, Splitting Up Together and The Fix. I am really upset about Speechless because it actually had a character with special needs played by an actor who has special needs. I felt that it was helping to normalize Cerebral Palsy, so its cancellation is a huge loss. The Kids Are Alright, like The Cool Kids, was hurt by a really bad pilot. It got better as the season went on.
NBC did not feel bad not picking I Feel Bad that also got hurt its pilot.
UPDATE 2: CBS cancelled Murphy Brown, Life In Pieces and Fam, but they picked up their safety sitcom Man with a Plan. Lethal Weapon was to much of a lethal weapon. ABC renewed Single Parents (I love this show), American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, The Rookie and the crappy Bless This Mess.
UPDATE 3: NBC has a blindspot for Blindspot because it will be back for one last season, while Star’s star has dimmed.
After what seems like forever, 9-1-1 is back on Fox tonight at 9p. The episode starts off with a woman getting a facelift. Something goes horribly wrong, and you will never want to get a facelift or any surgery after this…
Next up, there is a pileup on the freeway and a shark comes flying out of a truck that was transporting it. Now, they have to save the shark and the person that was bitten by it.
If that is not enough, a boy calls into 9-1-1. As he asking them for help, his father gets on the phone and says everything is OK. Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is suspicious of the call and asks Athena (Angela Bassett) to check it out. What does she find when she gets there?
You don’t want to miss a single second of this episode because something shocking happens at the end. Something that sets up next week’s episode.

Over on Epix at 10p is Punk. The second part of the four-part docuseries, that looks at Punk Rock, tells the story of how the music came about in London with bands like The Clash and Sex Pistols.
Although Punk was born in the US, Sex Pistols is the most notorious band in the genre because of lead sing Sid Vicious. As we know, he didn’t make it to the ’80s, but his bandmate Johnny Rotten is still playing with his band Public Image Limited. He still looks exactly how he did in the ’70s and he talks about his time changing music forever.
A few months before there was Anarchy in the UK, on July 4, 1976, The Ramones crossed the pond to play a gig in London. They had the same manager as the British Punk bands, so they all came out to see the NY band. Something about them lit a spark in the UK and Punk caught on like wildfire there.
Just like here, the music was part of an underground scene. Then on December 1, 1976, Queen cancelled on Bill Grundy and the Sex Pistols made their television debut. They were not ready for primetime, so they cursed on the air shocking the British audience. Their manager thought that was the end of their career, but they were overnight sensations.
In fact, they gained such notoriety, that Punk was banned throughout the country. Now, it was the Pistols who crossed the pond. They were playing the club circuit in the South, and they made Punk Rock popular in the US. As they were getting more famous, Sid and his girlfriend, Nancy, were getting deeper and deeper into drugs. Sid was not himself and you could not understand him because he was slurring his words.
Shortly before he said he killed his girlfriend, Nancy, he parted ways with the Sex Pistols. Then two months after he was arrested, he too was dead from a heroin overdose. Rotten tears up as he talks about losing his friend. He makes a confession, that will break your heart but not nearly as much as it has broken his. I have never heard him talk about Vicious before, and it was well worth the wait.
Tonight’s Punk is not only about the boys of Punk, but it is also about the women. Joan Jett talks about the music and says something that blew my mind. She has a different type of Bad Reputation with me now.
As much as I love this series and tonight’s episode, I have one little problem. Not enough talk about The Clash. I could be biased because I saw Rotten’s big moon over Miami with PIL at the same show with Mick Jones’ followup band Big Audio Dynamite. It was an epic bill and a concert I will never forget.
Back to Punk in the UK, I just wish they could have also highlighted bands that were on the cusp like Joy Division and Adam and the Ants. To me the latter was Punk and his solo work is New Wave.
Anyways, if you want to know more about the music that doesn’t give a f*ck and the people that don’t give two sh!ts, then you must watch Punk on Epix. I know it is not cool to love something if you are truly punk, but I love it! I may be right, I may be wrong.

Also at 10p, but over on ABC is the debut of The Fix. The series would be like what if another one of O.J. Simpson’s loves were murdered again. If anyone dreamed about that scenario, it is Marcia Clark. This murder mystery is her dream baby because she is the producer.
Famous actor Sevvy Johnson (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) was accused of killing two women including his wife. At the end of the sensationalized trail in 2010, he was found not guilty. Now, 8 years later, his girlfriend was found murdered and the actor is the #1 suspect.
Maya Travis (Robin Tunney) represented the People in the trial. Losing the case made her run away. She left town and has not been seen since. Her partner Andre (Adam Rayner) has moved up in the District Attorney’s office and he wants her back. He wants to get Johnson for murder this time and knows the only way to do it is bring her back.
Travis returns to town and there is a lot of animosity towards her in the D.A.’s office, but they have to work with her because they all want to see Johnson put away as much as she does.
Johnson’s lawyer (Scott Cohen), who got him off, is back representing him. He needs the case as much as Johnson needs to be acquitted again.
Over the last 8 years, time moved on but they didn’t. This time, everyone is ready for war, but who will be the winner? We find out in 9 weeks.
This fall season was full of duds, but this show stood out among the other crap. After watching 2 episodes, I feel like I am watching the O.J. trial all over again. Except this one is only 10 hours long and we get to watch all of them in the fight of their lives.

Anyone who has a kid in their life hates the earworm song Baby Shark. Therefore, imagine a show full of first graders and how their parents would react to that catchy song that just won’t die. That is exactly what ABC did in this promo for their highlarious sitcom Single Parents that you are not watching Wednesdays at 9:30p.
Why aren’t you watching? This the funniest new sitcom of the season. It is one of the shows about families and the reality of how much it sucks to be a single parent. Thankfully, they have each other and plenty of wine. You don’t have to have kids to enjoy this show, you just have to enjoy laughing to adore this comedy as much as I do.
American Housewife moves to its new night and time tonight at 8p on ABC, and it is an episode to sing about. It is not the only one because the sitcom is getting two more musical episodes this season. On March 19th, Taylor’s (Meg Donnelly) wants to audtion for American Idol, but her parents, Katie (Katy Mixon) and Greg (Diedrich Bader), do not want her to do it. How will they convince her not to fly out to LA. Then on May 21st, Katie decides to leave the family to fend for themselves. The season finale will feature four original songs written by Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman and Glenn Slater (Tangled, Galavant) as well as choreography from Ashley Wallen (La La Land, The Greatest Showman).
Those episodes are still a ways away, let’s talk about tonight. Katie likes to do things her way, and Greg likes to do taxes his way. When she goes to a tax guy to do their taxes, Greg seeks revenge on his wife. If you are new to the show, that is going to be a huge mistake for him. How will she prove to him how big of a mistake he made? Pray for Greg is all I will say.
Here is where the musical part comes in to play tonight. Taylor gets the lead in Little Shop of Horrors tonight and Pierce (Milo Manheim) is the Seymour to her Audrey. He has been doing everything he can to get her to be his including rigging how she got the lead. When her ex-boyfriend Trip (Peyton Meyer) tries to warn her what he has done, she doesn’t believe him. Will he be able to get through to her before it is too late?
I am happy that ABC has enough faith in American Housewife to have it lead off a night. It is a sweet show that more people should be watching. Therefore, watch it.
Then at 8:30p, The Kids Are Alright tackles something many parents went through from 1969-1972. They would tune into to see if their son was going to be drafted to go to Vietnam via the lottery.
The Clearys’ oldest son, Lawrence (Sam Straley) dropped out of the seminary and that means his deferment no longer works. He gets a letter telling him that he has been drafted and must report in two weeks. Just as he tells his family the news, Eddie’s (Caleb Foote) birthday comes up in the lottery. That means when he turns 18 in a few months, he will have to enlist.
Their parents act differently to the news. Their dad (Michael Cudlitz) is a WWII vet and he is proud his sons will be going to war and make them men. While their mom (Mary McCormack) will do everything in her power to make sure they never leave for Vietnam. Lawrence is ready to go to Canada to avoid going. However, Eddie wants to make his dad proud by serving.
Will they be going to Vietnam or will they get out of the draft? This is an emotional episode that should make every man born after 1972 be grateful, they never had to worry about being drafted. It is also important to watch before you tune into the State of the Union (don’t watch). It reminds us how far our government will go so boys in power can use people as their own personal GI Joes. This is a reminder that we should never get back to a point where people are forced to fight a war they don’t want to fight. Something two of our Presidents should know all too well because they did all they could to not go to Vietnam. They were sucessful, but many were not.
