ABC announced their fall schedule today, and they are making some changes. Instead of having sitcoms on three different nights like last year, they will only be airing on one night. That night is Wednesday. Since they have six comedies and only 4 slots to fill them with, two of them have to be held until the midseason. Those two shows are black-ish and mixed-ish. Their two sitcoms that are not all-White.
In fact, you can say ABC’s fall schedule is so White. Good thing they have Shonda Rhimes’ shows, America’s Funniest Videos, and Supermarket Sweep with Leslie Jones. ABC went from being diverse to barely any color. Luckily for them, they change it up in 2021. That is when they will have their first Black Bachelor, the ishes, For Life, and Lionel Richie on American Idol.
When it comes to their lineup, that is the color of vanilla ice cream. They are lucky that Fox and The CW are airing other people shows or ABC would be in a lot of trouble. Stumptown, really?

Believe it or not, the networks are still fine-tuning their 2020-2021 lineups. They have been able to delay their decisions because the coronavirus pandemic threw everything up in the air. However, NBC and ABC decided to let several shows know if they will be on the lineup when there is one.
Over at ABC, For Life did not get the chair. However, The Baker and The Beauty’s goose was cooked. At least the couple had their happy ending before the network decided the sweet show didn’t deserve a second season.
NBC is OK with letting the passengers of Flight 828 not knowing their fates for another season. That is because the show, about a plane that lands five years later with all the passengers looking the same as they did the day they took off, has more stories to tell. Sadly for Indebted, Sunnyside, Bluff City Law, their stories are all done.
What do you think about the network’s choices? I was really hoping we would have gotten more from Sunnyside and The Baker and the Beauty. Hey ABC, some words of advice, stop picking up share ows about Latinx families in Miami, that are really enjoyable, if you just going to make them one and done. I don’t want to get attched again.
While The CW, CBS, and Fox announced their schedule for 2020-2021, ABC is not ready to do that as they wait to see what our futures look like after we get through the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of telling us what shows will air when, they are letting us know what shows they will be when they can tell us that.
They already picked up The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, America’s Funniest Videos, The Bachelorette, and American Idol for another season, and those shows will be joined by 13 others: American Housewife, The Bachelor, black-ish, The Conners, Dancing with the Stars, The Goldbergs, A Million Little Things, mixed-ish, The Rookie, Shark Tank, Stumptown, 20/20 and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
What is missing? The Goldberg’s spinoff Schooled (hopefully Freeform will save it), the delightful Single Parents (this one really pisses me off), Bless This Mess that wasn’t blessed, and the painfully boring Emergence.
What will replace them? Big Sky, Call Your Mother, and the previously announced Supermarket Sweep hosted by Leslie Jones.

ABC announced today that it picked up The Good Doctor for another season. Normally, I would be happy about this news, but this season I have been struggling to watch.
What happened? Shaun has a girlfriend, and almost every week, they have been taking his relationship a little step further. First, the kiss, then him touching her boob, and finally him losing his virginity to her. If it was just little hints, I would be OK. However, they also show him talking about it to his co-workers every week. I thought it would end after they finally had sex, but now he is talking about giving her orgasms. When will it stop?
Who talks to their co-workers about their sex lives as much. I worked at a job that dealt with sex, and even my coworkers and I did not talk about it as much.
Therefore, when the show comes back next season, focus on the medicine. I am sure I am not the only one who does not want to hear about Shaun’s sex life anymore. Stop trying to be Grey’s Anatomy because your writers are not good at it.
Go back to what you did during the first season when it was more like House (the show’s creator, David Shore, also created that medical drama). Now, it too much about their personal lives that I don’t care about what they do outside the hospital.
I love Mel Brooks. I love Young Frankenstein. However, no one loved the Broadway musical Young Frankenstein. That is why it closed on so quickly on the Great White Way. It was considered a joke. Yet, for some reason, ABC thinks we want to see it live on our TV screens in the fall around Halloween. What are they thinking?
As the word, we say after you hear “Frau Blücher,” “Neigh!”
I don’t care if the revised version got positive reviews on The West End, there are hundreds of other musicals they can do first. If they are going to work with Mel Brooks, why not do The Producers with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick? What else are they doing now?
