December 11th, 2017 under Better Late Than Never, Henry Winkler, Jeff Dye, William Shatner

In 2016, Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman and Jeff Dye toured Asia and our relations with the Orient has never been better. Now the five men are exploring Europe and I predict the same because who doesn’t love The Fonz, Captain Kirk, The Blond Bomber, Big George and Jeff Dye? Tonight at 10p on NBC, the five of them begin their journey in Munich, Germany and Lederhosen has never been on five more fine men than these guys on Better Late Than Never, a comedic traveling docuseries.

It has been a year since the fantastic five have been together and they meet up at the airport on their way to Germany. Once they touch down in Germany, they quickly remember why they do not leave Dye in charge of the planning. He rented them a tiny RV for their trip. For their first stop, they visit a cute town and Bradshaw runs into someone on the street who knew one of his teachers. You will never believe what she tells him that teacher said about the NFL legend. It is a classic moment that will give you first huge belly laugh of the night.

And the laughing keeps on going when they decide to dress like the Bavarian do and each get a pair of Lederhosen. For the rest of the episode, they will don those sexy leather shorts with pride. Where is the first place they model them? Oktoberfest, of course! Next place, The Hangover Hospital because they all got really drunk and need to recuperate from all of their alcohol intake.

Once they are feeling better they go and have a picnic at a park. A park where clothing is optional, therefore, Bradshaw takes off her Lederhosen and everything else but his boots. A site that reminds them all that they are hungover.

How can they get a speedy recovery? Get on the autobahn, an 8,000-mile highway with no speed limit. That is unless you are in a RV that cannot go past 50 mph. Thankfully, they will get the need for speed out of them by going to a racetrack and racing to see who is the fastest. Guess who is the winner?

Time to slow down a little, so why not do The Sound of Music tour. See where the hills came alive for Julie Andrews and now comes alive for them. This stop really gives them time to bond.

Just in time for their last stop, that takes them to all new heights. They travel to Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak and at the top of the mountain; you are able to see four different counties from that vantage point. It is a stunning site that makes you want to hop on a plane immediately and see it for yourself.

It is a moment they will soon not forget, just like we not ever forget this show. It shows us that not only that you can enjoy the world at any age with friends, but it also shows that the world is a beautiful place to explore with those friends. In addition, we get to see places we never heard and now we know where we want to go for our next vacation. Hopefully, we can hire Jeff Dye as our tour guide too.

Here are five fantastic facts about the fantastic five, and what we can expect to see this season in Europe.

All of the fantastic five would love to do another season, so how many more can they do? Last week I attended a panel with all of them and Dye told how long he could see it going, “Me pushing all the wheelchairs with a long beard.”

Did you know that Better Late Than Never is based on Korean show called Grandpas Over Flowers. A title that all but Dye understood the meaning of. If you need me to explain it to you, let me know.

Which of the fantastic five is the most recognized? Bradshaw revealed, “I tell you what is fun is as you travel from country to country, one of the things, the one thing that I took was that of all these great personalities, these actors and comedians, the guy that was the most recognized around the world so far has been George.”

What is a shocking moment coming up this season? Executive Producer Jason Ehrlich say we expect to see, “When we were in Sweden, Bill sacked Terry, which is pretty impressive. “

There is one moment from Sweden that as of now we will not be seeing. All I will say it involves Surströmming, which is Fermented Herring, and projectile vomiting. The fantastic five want that scene in, but as of now it is on the cutting room floor. Thus, they have started a petition to get it included in the episode. From how they describe, this needs to be in the final cut, don’t you agree?

If you like to laugh until your cheeks hurt (I swear that mine hurt me all day after watching tonight’s premiere), then this is the show for you. Tune in tonight on NBC for the special preview at 10p after The Voice, then mark your calendar for its return on January 1st, in its regularly scheduled timeslot of 9p on Monday nights. I promise you in many languages, you will not be disappointed.
