Back in March, Alex Trebek revealed that he is battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Since then he has given several quick updates on his battle. Today, he sat down with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts and gave her a much thorough update.
The Jeopardy host told her that his oncologist says he is doing well, even though he does not always feel that way. He explained, “I am used to dealing with pain, but what I am not used to dealing with is the surges that come on suddenly of deep, deep sadness. And it brings tears to my eyes.” Then he added that through this process, he learned that he is “a little bit of a wuss”.
That is the emotional side of it, he also talked about the numbers. He says that his platelet counts, his blood counts and his weight are steady. There is one group of numbers that have gotten lower since he started chemo and they are the cancer indicator ones.
Even though the chemotherapy is knocking him out, he is still going ahead with it. He is scheduled to go in next week for another round of it.
Believe it or not, since he was diagnosed with cancer, he taped 50 episodes of his game show. Just like us, he is enjoying watching Jeopardy James Holzhauer beat all of the past contestant records.
And we are enjoying watching him beat cancer. His positive attitude is going to help him go the distance and we are there to support him throughout it.
