February 7th, 2018 under Ellen DeGeneres, This Is Us

We knew that Jack died within the first few episodes of This Is Us, but we did not know how until this past Sunday night. While we just found out, how long did the cast know about it? Ellen DeGeneres asked Milo Ventimiglia that very thing. He revealed to her that he kept the secret for about a year and a half. He said, “[Dan] Forgelman, our creator, he let us know, Mandy and I, and everyone else knew about it.”

How does he feel that is out there? In one word “relieved.” Imagine all the people who have come up to him, for the last year and a half, and wanted to know more. He probably wanted to tell them and couldn’t. Same goes for the rest of the liars, I mean cast!

Another thing Ventimiglia told the daytime talk show host is how they filmed that fire scene. They built a replica of the house in remote area for safety and security. Why for security? Because that house was really on fire and the actors came real close to the flames. Before you freak out and think that Ventimiglia could have met the same fate as Jack, it was all contained by a special effects crew. It was terrifying to film, but it was safe to do so. Because of that realism, our hearts were racing almost as much as his when he went back in to that house to save the dog, Kate’s stupid audition tape (I blame her) and the photo albums. CGI does not have the same effect as the real thing and boy did that episode feel real. Ask my bedroom trash can that is full of used tissues from the last two episodes of This Is Us.

How many tissue boxes did you go through? I went through a whole box during those scenes with Mandy Moore and Gerald McRaney.
