In 1967, Vicki Lawrence sent a letter that changed her life. She told Carol Burnett that she could play her sister, and shortly after that, she did.
Then, in 1973, Lawrence went from playing Burnett’s sister on The Carol Burnett Show to playing her mama in The Family sketches. Those sketches with Eunice and her mother became so popular with fans that it became its own series, Mama’s Family. That show is still being enjoyed by fans in syndication.
While Eunice and Mama did not always get along, the actresses did and do. So after nearly 60 years, they are still like sisters and enjoy hanging out. Therefore, yesterday, they had dinner and talked about old times! And we got this photo, wishing we could have joined them at the table!
