Over the weekend, Mattew Morrison announced that he was no longer part of So You Think You Can Dance because he did not follow “competition production protocols.”
Well, we were left to wonder what that meant. People suspected that it might be COVID related, and others thought that maybe the married actor was having an affair with one of the dancers.
Today, People is reporting that a source told them he “had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant.”
But it sounds like it was one-sided. “They didn’t have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media,” the source says. “She felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got Fox involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation.”
The two never met up, and their “relationship” was just over social media.
The magazine says neither Fox nor Morrison’s people would confirm or deny the story.
Morrison will be seen throughout the audition episodes, but he will be replaced by a new judge in time for the live episodes on June 15th.
I bet Fox wishes they kept Nigel Lythgoe. Maybe they will bring him back?
