Adam Sandler has a bloody good time on SNL
December 15th, 2024 under Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Saturday Night Live. [ Comments: none ]

This is Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary year, so a lot of past primetime players have been coming back to say hi!

This week was no different. Adam Sandler made a surprise cameo (his first since he hosted in 2019) to support his friend and former SNL castmate, Chris Rock, who was hosting yesterday’s show.

Sandler played a man who was getting a botched operation, and someone gave him a hose that had an unlimited supply of blood in it. And he used it on everyone who was in the skit! So much so that the Terrifier franchise has nothing on that sketch!

While the skit might not have been the best, seeing them all have fun made it worth it.

Spend NYE Day Drinking with Seth Meyers and friends!
December 15th, 2024 under Seth Meyers. [ Comments: none ]

NBC has decided not to have a night of live programming on New Year’s Eve. So what will they be airing instead?

From 9-11p, they will be airing A Toast to 2024. Today’s Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager ring in the new year as they host a primetime, star-studded special featuring the year’s buzziest and brightest moments.

Then, at 11:30p, they turn it over to Seth Meyers. We will look back on his many Day Drinking segments. While we encourage you to drink responsibly, we will show you many instances where Seth did NOT because he was hanging with Rihanna, Post Malone, Will Forte, Kelly Clarkson, Kristen Stewart, Kevin Hart, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lizzo, and Dua Lipa.

I hope they throw in a new segment to the mix! Because they are the best thing that late night television has given us in the last five years. I wish they would stop covering that guy.

Hanukkah on the Rocks is as sweet as a jelly donut!
December 13th, 2024 under Daren Kagasoff, Hallmark. [ Comments: none ]

Hallmark has a tradition of showing a Hanukkah movie every year. And tonight at 8p this movie is Hanukkah on the Rocks.

Tory (Stacey Farber) is a workaholic lawyer who has no time to meet a man. However, she always has time for her bubbe (Marina Stephenson Kerr), who wants her granddaughter to get married. But Tory doesn’t have time for that.

Until she does, that is because she gets laid off right before Hanukkah, and she doesn’t want to tell her parents and her bubbe. So she is pretending to work from home and take personal days. So when her bubbe asks her to find rare Hanukkah candles, she accepts the mission.

Jay (Daren Kagasoff) is in Chicago to visit his grandfather (Marc Summers), and he is trying to convince him to move down to Florida to be with him and his parents. However, he loves living where he lives.

His grandfather also wants the same candles as Tory’s bubbe, so now they are both looking for them. And luckily, there is one store that has them. Unfortunately, they only have one box. Now, they both have to fight over it.

Eventually, Tory lets Jay have the box. But then she has buyer’s remorse, so she follows him to a bar where his grandfather always goes to. Tory and him immediately get along, but the same cannot be said for Jay and her.

But they will have more time to get to know each other when she starts working as a bartender there. Together, they all work to turn Rocky’s into Hanukkah on the Rocks.

Will Jay and Tory’s relationship go from the rocks to something more? You will have to tune in for an endearing to find out.

I loved this movie, but there were two problems. One, Hallmark aired it on Shabbos. The second is if Jewish men looked like Kagasoff, more Jewish women would marry Jewish men.

Could this be the end of Sesame Street
December 13th, 2024 under Sesame Street/Muppets. [ Comments: none ]

Oscar the Grouch has nothing on Warner Bros Discovery head dick David Zaslav. That is because the latter cancelled his deal with Sesame Street. Thus leaving the beloved children’s show without a home.

“It has been a wonderful, creative experience working with everyone at Sesame Street on the iconic children’s series and we are thrilled to be able to keep some of the library series on Max in the U.S.,” a spokesperson for Max tells The Hollywood Reporter. “As we’ve launched Max though and based on consumer usage and feedback, we’ve had to prioritize our focus on stories for adults and families, and so new episodes from Sesame Street, at this time, are not as core to our strategy.”

So now Sesame Workshop is looking for a new place to air the series. Hopefully, they will not have to wait too long. And they shouldn’t be on the market for too long because they are a hot commodity for parents who want their children to watch something educational, fun, and positive.

And on a positive note, the show will be getting rid of the magazine style they changed to for Max.

“It’s going to give us an opportunity to dive further into the narrative,” Kay Wilson Stallings, executive vp and chief creative development and production officer for Sesame Workshop, told THR at the time, calling the changes a “reimagining” of the show, and adding that the longer segments will allow for more “dynamic” and “sophisticated” stories.

I hope that the streamers realize what a gift it will be to save this show that has been educating kids since 1969.
