Yellowjackets is a mystery told 25 years apart
November 14th, 2021 under Showtime. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 10p, Showtime has a new suspenseful drama, and you are going to instantly be hooked on Yellowjackets.

In 1996, the Yellowjackets, a high school girls soccer team, made it to nationals. It should have been the time of their lives, but it wasn’t. That is because their plane crashed in a remote wilderness, and they were missing for 19 months. What happened to them during that time still haunts them 25 years later.

Yellowjackets tells the story of what happened in ’96 and then 25 years later. However, someone from their past is trying to get them to reveal what happened when they were stranded. Whatever happened back then was so awful, they agreed to keep it a secret. With each episode, we get a glimpse of the horrors they went through, and why they can’t get over it.

Since they are telling the same people’s story 25 years apart, the casting department had to work hard to get actors that looked alike to play their teenage and 30-something selves. They did such a great job; they deserve the Emmy.

Who are they? There is Shauna (Sophie Nelisse/Melanie Lynskey), who was timid because she was second fiddle to her best friend Jackie (Ella Purnell), the team captain. As an adult, she is in a loveless marriage with a daughter she can’t stand. She is the one member who really wants to keep what happened a secret.

Natalie (Sophie Thatcher/Juliette Lewis) was the partying rebel back in HS and as an adult. All of those years of drinking has caught up with her, and she is in rehab. She was tough back then, and she is even tougher now. She will protect her teammates from whoever has it out for them.

Misty (Samantha Hanratty/Christina Ricci) wasn’t a player on the team. She is like their weird water girl. She desperately wants to fit, but she is too creepy to be one of them. She never loses that scary creepiness, even as an adult.

Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown/Tawny Cypress) thought of herself as the leader of the team, but she wasn’t. As an adult, she is running for office. Because of that, she wants to share what happened to them. However, Shauna put her foot down and won’t let them do it.

However, everyone might change their minds when they realize that someone is after them. Who is it, and why? We will just have to keep tuning in to find out in the suspenseful story about a plane crash and how surviving it destroyed them all in different ways.

Will Ned Flanders survives tonight’s The Simpsons
November 14th, 2021 under The Simpsons. [ Comments: none ]

https://youtu.be/PKQtlLPPFv4

Last week on The Simpsons, Ned Flanders found a lot of money and donated it to an orphanage. However, there is a man, who is known as The Collector, and it is his money. Therefore, he wants it back and will do anything to get it. He will kill for it, and he has. And now he has kidnapped Homer Simpson to get Flanders to give him back his money. So it is up to Flanders to save his neighbor.

Tonight at 8p on Fox, Flanders will do the unthinkable to get Homer back. But will it be enough? What happens when he finally comes face to face with The Collector? Find out in an episode you don’t want to miss.

Part of the reason that The Simpsons is still on the air after 33 years is that the writers always find a way to keep it fresh. Tonight’s episode is a perfect example of that.

I can’t wait to see what else do over the next 33 seasons.

Jane Krakowski has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19, and will not be able to star as Lily St. Regis in Annie Live. Since the show must go on, NBC told Deadline that Megan Hilty will take over the role. Hopefully, it will be an easy street for her.

“I am beyond thrilled to join this all-star cast, crew and creative team,” said Hilty in a statement. “My family and I have been super fans of Annie for as long as I can remember, and we always look forward to the epic televised musicals produced by Bob Greenblatt & Neil Meron, so to be a part of this particular production is an honor and a dream come true. I wish Jane the speediest of recoveries and hope to do her proud.”

In other casting news, Broadway’s original Annie Andrea McArdle will play Elanor Roosevelt in the production that goes live on December 2nd.

NBC announced its midseason lineup
November 12th, 2021 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Have you been wondering when This Is Us is coming back for its final season? Well, today, NBC announced that, along with several other midseason shows like Kenan, Mr. Mayor, and Young Rock, will be back.

However, it looks like Ordinary Joe will conclude its first and only season before the Winter Olympics in February. That is because it did not get any additional episodes. I think they should have done standalone episodes so that we could have understood each timeline more. If you looked down and then up, sometimes you would be like, which Joe is this one. We just didn’t get as invested in him like we should have because we didn’t have time to get to know him. However, at least they tried something different.

The first new show to get a second season is…
November 12th, 2021 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Even though La Brea hasn’t finished airing its first season, NBC announced today that it will be back for a second one.

The news is not a surprise because it is doing well in the rating. What I find a surprise is how well it is doing.

I wanted to like it, but I stopped watching after episode four. Maybe, I will binge it before it comes back next season.

Are you happy about this news?
