Tonight at 10p, Showtime has a new suspenseful drama, and you are going to instantly be hooked on Yellowjackets.

In 1996, the Yellowjackets, a high school girls soccer team, made it to nationals. It should have been the time of their lives, but it wasn’t. That is because their plane crashed in a remote wilderness, and they were missing for 19 months. What happened to them during that time still haunts them 25 years later.

Yellowjackets tells the story of what happened in ’96 and then 25 years later. However, someone from their past is trying to get them to reveal what happened when they were stranded. Whatever happened back then was so awful, they agreed to keep it a secret. With each episode, we get a glimpse of the horrors they went through, and why they can’t get over it.

Since they are telling the same people’s story 25 years apart, the casting department had to work hard to get actors that looked alike to play their teenage and 30-something selves. They did such a great job; they deserve the Emmy.

Who are they? There is Shauna (Sophie Nelisse/Melanie Lynskey), who was timid because she was second fiddle to her best friend Jackie (Ella Purnell), the team captain. As an adult, she is in a loveless marriage with a daughter she can’t stand. She is the one member who really wants to keep what happened a secret.

Natalie (Sophie Thatcher/Juliette Lewis) was the partying rebel back in HS and as an adult. All of those years of drinking has caught up with her, and she is in rehab. She was tough back then, and she is even tougher now. She will protect her teammates from whoever has it out for them.

Misty (Samantha Hanratty/Christina Ricci) wasn’t a player on the team. She is like their weird water girl. She desperately wants to fit, but she is too creepy to be one of them. She never loses that scary creepiness, even as an adult.

Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown/Tawny Cypress) thought of herself as the leader of the team, but she wasn’t. As an adult, she is running for office. Because of that, she wants to share what happened to them. However, Shauna put her foot down and won’t let them do it.

However, everyone might change their minds when they realize that someone is after them. Who is it, and why? We will just have to keep tuning in to find out in the suspenseful story about a plane crash and how surviving it destroyed them all in different ways.
