Today on The Talk, they had a big announcement to make. For the first time in over ten years, they are going to have something they never had before. That thing is a permanent male co-host.
Who is it? The lovable Jerry O’Connell. “It’s real exciting,” he said. “First of all, I want to say, you ladies have been so welcoming to me. I mean, I came here as a guest months ago, and just from the moment I walked in, you’re just gracious, you’re kind, you’re fun, and it worked. And here we are. We’re going to have a lot of fun, we really are.”
Not only is he the first male, but he is also the first lead host that won’t be a bully fighting for all of the attention to be on them, unlike some of the other people who left the show in the past. I won’t name names, but you can assume who I am talking about.
But it is not about Sharon Osbourne, who he is replacing; it is about him. O’Connell is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. He is right up there with Henry Winkler, who everyone loves in this town. He makes you special when he talks to you. It is not BS. He sincerely cares about everyone he meets.
This job is something he was born to do, and I am happy he is getting to do it.
I think that he also has three ladies who will equally back him up. I have never met Amanda Kloots or Elaine Welteroth, but I really liked Sheryl Underwood the one time I briefly met her. I think the four of them will get along splendidly, and they won’t be competing with The View to see who can be the biggest bitch/diva. Instead, they probably will be vying for who can be the sweetest piece of candy on the show. Yeah, that was cheesy, but it is true.
So my heartfelt congrats go out to Jerry. Welcome to daytime television. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fox picked wound up Pictionary, a game show he is hosting, when it is done with a test run on their stations at the end of the summer. Watch it weekdays on your local Fox affiliates.
