Jeopardy names their next group of guest hosts
January 13th, 2021 under Jeopardy. [ Comments: none ]

Back in November, Alex Trebek lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Then last week, his final episodes of Jeopardy aired.

Since, as Queen says, the show must go on, it did with guest hosts. This week Ken Jennings is hosting the show. In the coming weeks, Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers, Bill Whitaker, and Mayim Bialik will be asking the answers.

That is an interesting group of celebrities to take over the hosting duties. Then again, I won’t be happy until they ask Neil deGrasse Tyson to do it. He would be the perfect replacement for the job.

The Kennedy Center honors Dick Van Dyke, Debbie Allen and Garth Brooks
January 13th, 2021 under Dick Van Dyke, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. [ Comments: none ]

CBS

CBS and the Kennedy Center announced who they will be honoring this year. The five artists are Debbie Allen, Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Midori, and Dick Van Dyke.

Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein explained their decision. “Debbie Allen moves seamlessly between artistic disciplines and is a cultural ambassador for all while having a monumental impact on dancers of color everywhere; folk icon Joan Baez breathed new life into the genre and powered rock music’s turn toward social and political consciousness; as one of the world’s best-selling music artists, Garth Brooks heightened country music’s profile like no other singer before him; with an international presence for over 35 years, violinist Midori combines graceful precision and expression for performances building connections between art and the human experience; with a charm that has made him one of the most cherished performers in show business history, Dick Van Dyke has brought us beloved film, stage, and TV characters adored by generations of fans, for more than seven decades.”

The two-hour special is slated to air June 6th on CBS. How the event will take place will depend on where we are in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. We need to protect Dick Van Dyke, Joan Baez, and Debbie Allen from COVID-19. They are obviously national treasures, or they would not be being honored.

The SAG Awards move away from the Grammys
January 13th, 2021 under Awards. [ Comments: 1 ]

SAG Awards

Last week, the Grammys moved their show from January 31st to March 14th because of the dangerous spread of COVID-19 in Los Angeles. The latter date was the same as the SAG Awards. I say was because today the Screen Actors Guild announced that their show will now take place on April 4th on TBS and TNT.

SAG said in the press release, “Throughout these challenging times, our industry and our union members have proven their creativity and resilience in discovering new methods of storytelling while adapting to new safety protocols and procedures. We embrace that spirit as we re-imagine the SAG Awards with a one-hour special that highlights and expands on our signature I am an Actor opening and honors the outstanding performances of the past year.”

Personally, I say we should skip awards season this year. But then again, I say that every year.

Salma Hayek learned how to dry herself from her dogs
January 13th, 2021 under Salma Hayek. [ Comments: none ]

The other day, I shared a video of Kate Beckinsale trying to learn how to clean her bum like her cat.

Today, Salma Hayek showed us that she learned how to dry herself off like her dogs. The actress doesn’t need a towel; she just needs to shake the excess water off of herself.

I am sure she is got a lot of dogs’ tails wagging with this lesson, and I am not referring to the ones that walk on four legs.
