The Kennedy Center Honors honor people who have made a huge impact in Arts and Entertainment. An honor you would think that anyone who is slated to get one would attend. Not this year. First Norman Lear said he would not attend the event because of the President, then Lionel Richie and Gloria Estefan said they were not sure if they would go and finally yesterday dancer Carmen de Lavallade bowed out. Since you can have the Kennedy Center Honors without the nominees, the President decided not to attend. The White House said, “The president and first lady have decided not to participate in this year’s activities to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction.” Translation, they do not want me there, I get it. In return, he will probably cancel all funding to all arts programs as revenge. At least that I was thinking he will do.
When it comes to the Kennedy Center, they told ABC News, “The Kennedy Center respects the decision made by today by the president. Then they added, “In choosing not to participate…the administration has graciously signaled its respect for the Kennedy Center and ensures the Honors gala remains a deservingly special moment for the honorees.” In other words, thank you for not coming.
45 is only the third time a President did not attend the gala and the first to due so because he was not wanted there. President Carter cancelled in 1979 due to the Iran Hostage situation and President Clinton skipped out in 1994 because he was on a trip to Budapest for a security conference on Europe.
During past seasons, Dancing with the Stars has cast controversial people like Bristol Palin, Rick Perry and Marla Maples to compete on the show for ratings, but not this upcoming one. Tom Bergeron told KABC’s George Pennacchio that the 25th season will “make you feel good. Expect a celebratory season without heavy drama!” I am all for that because I hate the stunt casting. I want it to be about the dancing and with people who are real stars. Something that has not been part of the show for a while.
When it comes to who I want to put on their dancing shows, I really hope they get Baby Daddy’s Melissa Peterman, The Gong Show’s host Tommy Maitland and Perfect Stranger’s Bronson Pinchot, who has been trying to lose weight since he saw himself on Battle of the Network Stars, to join the show. Who do you want to see on season 25? ABC has not announced when we will find out who will be competing, but it should be soon because the season premiere is less than a month away on September 18th.
UPDATE: George Pennacchio says that they will announce the new cast of Dancing with the Stars this Thursday!
Towards the end of last season of This Is Us, we got to meet Kevin’s ex-wife and see Sophie and him give their love a second chance. In fact, the show loved it so much they made her a series regular for season 2 and that means we will be seeing a lot more of Alexandra Breckenridge. Not only we will be seeing a lot more of her on the show, we will also be seeing a lot more of her in person because she is expecting her second child with her husband Casey Hooper.
Does that mean her pregnancy will be written into the show? We do not know. We will just have to wait to find out when the much loved drama returns on September 26th. I am rooting for it to happen because maybe a baby would force Kevin to grow up.
If you are like me, then you really enjoyed CMT’s Sun Records that told the story of the record label that launched the musical careers of Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. So much so, you were hoping for a second season. Well we are not getting one because Billy Gardell, who played the Colonel, Tweeted, “Sorry to say no season 2, they kept it a mini series, thank you for watching!”
While the show wrapped its run with a satisfying ending, it did leave room for more. I am sad we are not getting more. I guess that is the price for living with Nashville.
When I think of Hollywood’s biggest nerds, I think of Seth Green and Wil Wheaton. Therefore, I am glad to see they share the same love for each other as we share for them. I can even hear the music playing as they posed for this perfect ’80s sitcom photo of what the ideal bromance is all about. When it comes to the tune I hearing that song is the Pointer Sister’s Jump!
Seriously, how happy are you to see that Green accepted to Wheaton’s offer to always Stand By Me?
