ABC’s Dirty Dancing asks, ‘Watch me now!’
April 25th, 2017 under ABC, Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since Dirty Dancing came out almost 30 years ago, everyone who saw it fell in love with it. The timeless film has been attracting new fans every time a parent shares their favorite movie with their kids who then share it with their friends who then share it with someone else and so on. In other words, it is perfect the way it is.

Or so we thought. ABC has other thoughts on that and remade the classic to air on May 24th. Nobody puts baby in the corner, but someone should put this remake there. It might be good, but that promo is no Patrick Swayze/Jennifer Grey lift. When will Hollywood learn, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! See Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show that lived up to two of the words in the title.

This cop was busted…with some sexy Salsa movies!
April 25th, 2017 under Admirable People. [ Comments: 1 ]

Over the weekend cops were called to Leslie Sapp’s San Antonio house over a noise complaint and what happened next is something no one ever expected.

Instead of the police officer shutting down the Next Generation Dance Crew, an organization dedicated to inspiring and encouraging the youth to express themselves through dance, party, he asked the DJ to play a song that he liked. Then he went on the dance floor and did his best Salsa moves. Not only delighting Sapp and the kids including her daughter at the party, he also changed their views of law enforcement. Sapp told KSAT, “As a parent, especially these days, there is a lot of negativity in the world when it comes to cops, and he broke that stereotype. He didn’t have to take his time to do that and could have just (gone) in and shut it down.”

Proving that only does dance inspire and encourage kids to express themselves, it also breaks down barriers. Therefore, instead of hands across America, let’s have dance across America! Maybe this way we can get along because we need it more than we have had in over 50 years.

Faye Dunaway talks about that infamous Oscar moment!
April 25th, 2017 under Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

None of us will ever forget when Faye Dunaway read La La Land as the Best Picture at the 2017 Oscars because it wasn’t. As we know Moonlight won that distinction.

What we didn’t know until now is what happened according to Dunaway’s perspective of it. She told Lester Holt on Nightly News, “He [Warren Beatty] took the card out, and he didn’t say anything. He paused, he looked over at me, offstage, he looked around and I finally said, ‘You’re impossible.’ I thought he was joking. I mean, I thought he was stalling. Warren’s like that. He kind of holds the power and makes people…a dramatic pause. But it’s part of his charm.”

When the NBC newsanchor asked if she was angry about what happened on Hollywood’s biggest night, she responded by saying “No, I was very guilty. I thought, I could have done something, surely. Why didn’t I see Emma Stone’s name on the top of the card?”

If she did, then barely any of us would have remembered that Moonlight won Best Picture and it would have been a lackluster Oscars. Instead it is one we will be talking about for decades to come like the year Jack Palance won for City Slickers and the other one when Marisa Tomei was declared Best Supporting Actress for My Cousin Vinny or how about the time Robin Williams sang Blame Canada from South Park or Rob Lowe singing with Cinderella. It is the memorable moments that make the Oscars not the winners. Sorry winners.

Flip or Flop won’t let a thing like divorce end the show!
April 25th, 2017 under HGTV. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5-ziXE3V3M
Back in December, it was revealed that Tarek and Christina El Moussa were divorcing (and things were messy between them), and people thought their show was over. Not so fast. HGTV announced yesterday that Flip or Flop will be back with 20 all new episodes airing a year after their split was announced.

The network had this to say about the new season for their fan favorite, “HGTV cameras captured the ups and downs of Tarek and Christina’s house flipping business as well as their family life. While the couple has separated, each one has turned the page to a new life that includes a continued commitment to running their house flipping business together and delivering fresh episodes of Flip or Flop.”

Translation the show is going to be even more fun to watch, now that the flipping couple’s marriage is a flop. I have never watched it, but I am adding it to my DVR so I can see it all go down!
