Wipeout turns 100 tonight!
June 27th, 2013 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 8p Wipeout celebrate its 100th episode. That is equal hundreds of black & blue marks, left several men without the ability to have kids and thousands of laughs as people try to run a course that should not be run by any human being.
When this episode taped on a freezing windy LA day, I was there to talk to John Henson about the accomplishment and it is something he is very proud of.
So is he willing to put his pride aside and run the course himself? He told me, “I have never tried any obstacle nor will I. As I like to say that’s like asking Dr Drew if he has tried heroin. I am on the other side of that equation. I am trying to to talk people out of running the course.”
So since he has seen hundred of people try this course, can he predict who will make it all the way to the end. He said, “I think that is kind of the beauty of Wipeout, you can’t necessarily predict a certain body type that is going to excell at this course. There is a lot of problem solving involved in running the course.” Then he added, “It is not necassarily the biggest, the fastest and strongest who is going to succeed, sometimes it is the most cunning. And there is the whole aspect of chance.” He concluded by saying, “That is one of the things I find most fun, you never know who is going to succeed.” He then brought up the example of little Ariel from Alaska, who was the first person to actually complete those big balls. Not a big strong man, but a little woman from way up North. And talking about up North, his favorite contestant on the series so far is Vonti McRae. She is a big chested woman who could hold a lot of mud up there. When you watch her appearance on the show, you can see why she was so memorable to him and to us.
Now if you want to be the next Ariel or Vonti, he told us what they are looking for, “They look for outgoing people. People who are here to have fun. There’s no way you can stand at top of the course and not know what is about to happen to you.” And about that start of the course, he shared what he looks forward to with it. He said, “I am always interested to compare the enthusiasm and optomism at the beginning of the course to the bedraggled wet rat drawn out of the water at the end.”
Since this show has no end in sight, what would he like to see with the next 100 episode? Here’s what he’s waiting for, “I am just waiting for them to come up with new and inventive ways to test the limits of the human spine.” Cause then he explained, “Every now and again I see a Wipeout and I’m like OMG do we need to get new jobs now? And then they pop up and start running.” So tune tonight and every Thursday at 8p to see what ways they will come with to the limits of the human spine. I personally tune in because I am a sadist and I love to watch them hurt themselves!

Tales from a Flight Attendant!
June 27th, 2013 under Hallmark. [ Comments: none ]

If you would assume that flight attendants have some really interesting stories from all of the flights they have worked on, then you would be right. When Bobby Laurie was on Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family last week to promote the book Jettiquette, he had a strange story to share with Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare during their daytime talk show that airs weekdays from 10a-12n.
Laurie told them about a couple who boarded the airplane with a teddy bear. Sounds normal but here is where it starts to get strange, they fastened the stuffed bear in to the seat with them. Then the woman started ordering Scotch on the Rocks, one after another after another. Well after he served a few drinks, another passenger came up to the Steward and asked him he knew where those drinks were going? Since he didn’t the passenger explained to him that the woman was pouring the drinks down the Teddy’s mouth. Now that he knew what she was doing, he suggested that they switch to water. The woman then said to her furry friend, “We’ve been cut off.” When he explains it will be better for him, she told him that she has a wheelchair waiting for him when they get off. Well now Laurie is just flabbergasted, so he asks the husband about it. The husband told him that the teddy bears go everywhere and they always fly first class. You know what I totally want to be that lady’s teddy bear because I would love to fly first class, drink Scotch for free and have a wheelchair waiting for me when I get off the plane. But that is all I am willing to do because you have to assume she does more with them when they are home alone. Either that or the husband is a Furry and dresses up for her when it is just the two of them. I mean he has to be getting something out of it right? At least he better.
Now when it comes to Home & Family, you totally need to be watching it every weekday on Hallmark at 10a for two hours because they have “interesting” stories like this one all the time. Plus they have celebrity interviews, cooking and Do-It-Yourself tips, funny games and so much more! What more do you need from a daytime talk show?

Independence Daysaster is as exciting as fireworks on July 4th!
June 27th, 2013 under Syfy. [ Comments: 1 ]

Tonight at 9p Independence Daysaster crashes down on Earth via Syfy and you want to catch this disaster flick.
It is July 4th and President Sam Garcette (Tom Everett Scott) is coming home to see his son, Andrew (Keenan Tracey), and his firefighter brother, Pete (Ryan Merriman). On the way to visit them, something out of this world happens and his plane is diverted. But since he is in the sky and metallic things are falling down around them, his plane goes down and no one knows where. That is because communication has been cut because of these mysterious UFOs that are coming down to Earth and destroying everything in their path.
Meanwhile back in DC, the Vice President (Garwin Sanford) decides that he is in charge and starts to attack the presumed aliens. Only problem his strikes aren’t working and they are pissing off whatever is attacking them.
Thankfully the President has come across a barn with computer genius Todd (Iain Belcher) and his even more brilliant friend, Leni (Grace Sherman). The two of them help him contact the White House. But just as quickly as they as communication between them is started, it is ended. Now the three of them are trying to come up with a plan to destroy whatever is attacking the world.
Then the President winds up meeting up with his brother and his son and they have a plan to get destroy these things, thanks to alien researcher, Celia (Emily Holmes). But what is the point of having this plan, if they can’t tell anyone about it?
Will they be able to get in touch with White House again before it is too late or will our world be lost forever?
You have to tune this exciting film to find.
Normally I am not huge into invasion movies, but this one is so good it kept my interest from the beginning until the end. In fact I think it might be Syfy’s best movie of the year so far and we are half way through it.

It’s ladies night on Sullivan & Son and the feeling’s right for Kunal Nayyar!
June 27th, 2013 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 10p on TBS, Sullivan & Son decide to try ladies night and they wind up attracting The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar.
Nayyar does a complete 180 from Raj in this role and you are going to love seeing him play the ultimate playa! He will hit on the ladies like only his infamous character wishes he could do when he is drunk. Yeah he is that much of a stud and he will actually land a lady tonight. Who is she? She is the bar’s tom boy Melanie and she transforms for the special night.
But ladies night isn’t only about Nayyar, Hank also meets his soul mate and they have more in common then you would ever guess that they do. Think you know what it is? You won’t, but you will thoroughly love the storyline! It is funny and very touching at the same time. Which is why I love Hank’s character so much.
Yesterday I was on a conference call with Kunal Nayyar and he talked about playing this role. Since he’s playing the King of Pickup Lines; when he was asked what his favorite one was on the show, he said it was “I like to go for the crazy girls. You know, crazy in the head, crazy in the bed.”
Something you would never ever hear him say on The Big Bang Theory, so what is it like for him to play such an opposite role from the one we know him for. He said, “It was liberating. It was a lot of fun, you know, it’s always fun to play characters who don’t have a filter because, you know, in society you have a filter. Everyday you have a filter in your life. We live by these rules that are governed on us, you know, whether it’s family rules or rule of friendship or rules of etiquette or rules of manners.” Then he added, “It’s really fun to play a character who just throws all of the rules out of the book – out of the door and just says what’s on his mind and is sort of liberated and trying to pick up women this way and then completely lies about his ethnicity.” And since he was playing an American on the episode, he couldn’t use his natural accent, so he would have a problem getting some of the words out. In fact when he does an Indian accent on the show, he was told not to use his real accent. And he let us know what that was like for him, “Like, so it was funny. I was playing, like, opposite-opposite of myself.”
Even though this role is not something he has ever done on camera before, it was something he had done in his private life. He shared with us this little tidbit, “I know it’s a silly thing but my friends talked about having a big Ed Hardy party where we would just dress from head to toe in Ed Hardy and skulls and, like, walk around and just pretend to be these type of guys. And so, that’s, like, where it came from. I was like I know how to be this kind of guy because we talked a lot about pretending to be this guy and it was fun, you know.” In fact he told us he might’ve enjoyed doing the role a little bit too much because he said, “It was really fun to just go for it. You know, I didn’t censor myself and I wasn’t self conscious about it. I really, really enjoyed it. Maybe too much. I’m not sure my wife was very happy.” While she might not be happy with it, I promise you will be because he will have you in hysterics. So much so if you have any liquids in your mouth you will be spitting them out just to laugh! So tune in to Sullivan & Son tonight at 10p on TBS!
