So someone who goes by ant1mat3rie on Vimeo has been posting videos of scenes from different movies to make up a song. The latest version is Lionel Richie’s Hello and it is the first time I have been able to listen to that much of the song without wanting to turn it off. That isn’t the only ’80s hit to get the movie scene treatment, Wham!’s Last Christmas also got the mashup. I don’t know who this person is, but I want them to do it with more songs because I love what they have done with just these two songs. Don’t we need more?
Tonight at 9p on The CW the network gets a new Docu-series and it is called Remodeled. Paul Fisher launched The Network in which he takes struggling modeling agencies under his umbrella throughout the world and turns them into thriving ones. In a way it is a lot like Fox’s Kitchen Nightmares and Bravo’s Tabatha’s Salon Takeover as in he goes in and transforms these dying modeling agencies into ones with star models. Just like the other two shows, you learn a lot about the modeling industry as he goes through and changes things up.
In the promos for Remodeled and the show itself, he comes off as very abrasive and last week he explained why he is so tough on the agencies he is remodeling. He said, “Well, first of all, I’m not an actor. What you see is what you get. I’m a very passionate man. I truly believe that when parents are putting their kids’ youth into your hands, I take that as a very serious responsibility. I deal with agencies that are struggling. And it doesn’t matter if they are agencies or whatever kind of business they are. They are on life support. My job is to help them, to help them build their business. And it’s not like curing cancer or anything like that, but we are dealing with young, beautiful souls. They are putting them into my hands into our hands, and I take that very, very seriously, and so I am very, very intense. I’m very, very passionate about what I do.” And it is important for him to do this because as you will see in next week’s episode there is one agency that has a modeling school in the office. One of the first things anyone learns when they want their child to be a model is any school you have to pay to learn how to do things is a scam. So it is important for parents to watch this show to learn what is the right agency to sign up for.
So how does his show different from the others on television, here is the answer Fisher gave to that question: “Well, I’d like to start with, you know, I’m an agent, and I’ve been an agent for a very, very long time. I really no disrespect to any other shows out there. There’s some really, really cool shows out there about the modeling industry, but I am an agent, and that’s what I’ve done for many, many years is create help create young people into becoming stars. So I believe what you guys are going to see for the first time ever in the history of television is young is the real world of the modeling industry, is actually a young person and the process of what takes what truly takes place when a kid is found, discovered, and then actually launched, not placing the kid with a modeling agency, but actually you’re going to actually see kids do campaigns and not get campaigns. You are going to actually see kids walk down the runways for the biggest designers in the world, and this is not make-believe. You guys call it a reality show. I call it a docu-series. To me, what we are doing is we are documenting what The Network does every single day.”
One thing that makes him very different from any model agent I ever heard from is his stance on being a model. He said, “I’m not a big supporter of the modeling industry. I don’t suggest any young person to ever enter into our world. I actually think it can be very, very damaging for a young person. I believe that anytime that you go on 5 castings a day, 25 castings a week, 100 castings a month, 1,200 castings a year, and 1,198 times you don’t get that job, by the time you turn 18, 19, 20 years old, you look in the mirror, and you see things that nobody else sees. When young people come and see me, I actually tell them to ‘Run away from me, ma’am.’ I actually say, ‘Do not model. This is not a good business for almost anybody.’ I don’t support the modeling industry. I don’t suggest it upon anybody.” So if he does take on a client, you know he really sees something in them. And that is a process you will see through out the Docu-series.
Another thing that blew me away is how he cares for his models and what he does to protect them both mentally and physically from the harsh business. Here is what he does to do that, “I believe that our industry must take social responsibility for the media, for the messages and the photos and images that we’re putting out into the world. You know, a typical a normal young person, a normal woman 5 foot 4, 143 pounds; a normal model 5 foot 11, 111 pounds. Our industry ten years ago, we were about 8 percent off of what the normalcy was. We’re now 23 percent off. I believe there’s 7 million kids around the world right now that are sticking their fingers down their throat, and I believe that our industry must take responsibility for the images that we are we’re putting out there into the world. When I first decided and I had this dream. You know, I wanted to create a business which would be a very safe environment for young women, and that’s when we decided to put together experts in all these various different important in these very important things that these kids need as they’re entering into our business. And so what we have is not workshops, but if a young person has an eating disorder, we have experts that can speak. At no cost. There’s no cost to this. If a kid has an eating disorder or a kid has a skin issue, if a kid has a depression issue, if a kid has a self esteem issue, we have experts that work with these kids because, once again, I want to say very, very clearly whether you believe me or not, how much money I make off of a kid is one thing. Their soul is ten times more important to me than how much money I can make off that kid. I have a responsibility to them. I have a responsibility to their parents. And it’s a responsibility that I take very, very seriously. So we have experts that work with all of our kids. You know, and, once again, this ain’t a show. This is my business. This is a mission of ours.”
So now that you know how Remodeled is different than anything else on TV, why not watch this beautiful show tonight on The CW at 9p and for the next two Tuesdays at this timeslot before moving to its permanent one on Wednesdays starting February 1st.
Tonight’s Raising Hope on Fox at 9:30p starts off with Cloris Leachman wearing her bra over a shirt, so you know it is going to be good and as the episode goes on it gets ever funnier. When nearly two year old Hope proves that she is smarter than her dad and her grandparents they all decide to go to night school to get their GEDs. This will prove to be a difficult task because the teacher (Fred Willard) they had when they dropped out of high school is teaching the class and he remembers The Chances and won’t make it easy on them. They will all try different techniques to learn the needed material and in some ways it will work and in others it will fail big time. You will have to tune in to see how it all turns in this episode where GED stands for Great Entertaining Delirium. That works, right?
BTW my favorite part of the episode has nothing to do with the plot but a shirt that Burt wears. It is worth taking a Chane on the show just to read what it says. The T-Shirt is a total classic that could only work om this show and I want to make sure everyone gets the joke like I did. You don’t need a GED to understand what the shirt means.

After of months of waiting for an air date, Cougar Town finally has one. ABC announced today that Cougar Town will return for its third season on Tuesday, February 14th at 8:30p replacing the cancelled shows Man Up and Work It.
Last week I attended one of the Cougar Town parties and Courteney Cox, Christa Miller and Executive Producer Kevin Biegel all told me that it is their best season yet, so tell everyone and their brother and sister to watch this show that’s title does not match what it is about. It is about a group of friends who get together, drink, play games that will instantly become yours to play with your friends, make fun of each other and drink. Did I mention that they drink? And it is definitely not about a woman who dates younger men. Seriously whether you have seen the first two seasons or this will be your first make sure to watch it because I promise you will love it as much as you love a good glass of wine.
