Everybody Hurts because R.E.M. split.
September 21st, 2011 under 80s, Michael Stipe. [ Comments: none ]

R.E.M. announced today that after 31 years they are splitting, and as most people read/heard the news they thought…wait they are still together?
The former band posted this message on their site:

“To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.” R.E.M.

Back when I was a kid, I would’ve been curled up in a circle singing Shiny, Happy People with tears streaming down my face trying to put a smile on my face. But today, I could care less because they haven’t released a good album since Automatic for the People in 1992.
BTW is it wrong for me to wonder what Michael Stipe did to cause them to split?

How much will you love Revenge? Double infinity!!!
September 21st, 2011 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight on ABC at 10p you will find out just how sweet Revenge is!!!
When Amanda was a very young girl her father was convicted of a horrendous crime he didn’t commit. The people who set him up still live in the town where she spent part of her childhood, so now she has returned to The Hamptons with a new name to get Revenge on the people that wronged her dad and robbed her of a happy childhood. Little by little as she serves the dish best served cold, she will cross each name off her list. How she does it, you will have to tune into see. But I will tell you, I would never want to cross her the wrong way…
Emily VanCamp plays Emily Thorne and the sweet innocent teen we got to know in Everwood is gone and now she is playing a vengeful woman. I can’t think of another actress who has done such a 360 in roles and done it so well.
Now some of you might be saying how can the show go on if she gets on Revenge on all of those people because how many names can there be? Well the executive producers told at the TCAs that if the show gets picked up past their original 13 episodes, they will switch islands. They will be moving from Long Island to Manhattan and you know it will get even better!
Revenge is sweet and when you watch this show on ABC every Wednesday at 10p, you will find out just how sweet it is!!!

Billy Idol has a huge penis?
September 21st, 2011 under 80s. [ Comments: 2 ]

Billy Idol Tweeted that Mony Mony shot with no comment, so he left it up for us to do so! I re-watched some of his old videos, you know the ones where he wore tight leather pants, and I am not sure he should be reading a book called “How to Live with a Huge Penis”. If any ’80s musician should be reading it, it should be Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes! And the one ’80s singer who I would call The Police on if I saw him reading that book, can you guess who?
So now back to the man who likes Dancing with himself, do you think he has a huge penis?

Are you ready for The X Factor in The US?
September 21st, 2011 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: 1 ]

The X Factor has been almost two years in the making and tonight on Fox at 8p you will get to see if the much talked about show is worth the buzz?
I watched the first episode yesterday and I have to say that Simon Cowell’s new show is a tamer, more uptight version of American Idol. Mr Nasty is nicer, Paula Abdul is less crazy, LA Reid is Randy Jackson without the catch phrases and Nicole Scherzinger just tries too hard. Sounds like it should work, but I found myself bored very quickly. In fact the thing that interested me most about the show was trying to understand what host Steve Jones was saying. I love British accents, but his was hard for me to understand and it bothered me the way he said Los Angeles.
Now when it comes to the singers, yes they are better than the ones that auditioned for American Idol. But the one thing we are learning about these competition shows is that is as much (if not more so) about the judges than it is about the contestants.
Granted the show can get a lot better after the audition phase, which is a lot like Idol’s, but with a studio audience. But then again, will you still be watching by then?
I hope this show isn’t as much of a costly mistake for Fox as I fear it might be because I really like this network. I guess only time will tell…
