Before Michael Richards became news after he was heckled by an audience member at show, he heckled Andy Kaufman during a skit they were doing together on Fridays. He looks the same now as he did back when he was 31 on that 1981 episode except his hair was more tame.
You might not remember (because I didn’t) but that skit was featured in Man on the Moon and below is the actual footage of Andy Kaufman apologizing for it and another scene that was reenacted for the movie. If you don’t know about this infamous incident you can read about it on Wikipedia.
Can I just say that Andy Kaufman was such a comedic genius who was taken away from us way too soon.
Just like the Wicked Witch of the West got Wicked, The Wizard of Oz is getting Oz The Great And Powerful. According to Production Weekly the second prequel from The Wizard Oz is getting ready to walk the yellow brick road on to the big screen with Sam Mendes as the front runner to direct and Robert Downey Jr to play the lead role. Up until now I never pictured him as the Wizard but now that it is out there I think he would be perfect for the part. When it comes to Sam Mendes, he has such a great eye for beauty I can only imagine what an amazing job he will do with the Land of Oz!
I hope that both hurry up and agree to do this movie, so we can see it on the big screen soon!
I guess the TV execs took some time away from celebrating 420 to announce some season premiere dates, contract renewals and pick ups!
FX is on fire because today they announced that on June 29th Rescue Me is back for its second to last season while Louis will begin its first. Showtime announced on National Pot Day (for some reason) that Season 6 of Weeds will premiere on August 16th followed by the debut of The Big C.
The Comedy Central bosses are taking a few hits to celebrate the news that both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert both renewed their contracts. Stewart will remain with The Daily Show until at least 2011, while Stephen will stay with The Colbert Report until at least 2012.
HBO must be smoking something because they renewed Curb Your Enthusiasm for another season and they are sharing their stash with NBC because they picked up Parenthood before Chuck. Seriously Chuck is so much better than Parenthood. Dang if only Josh Schwartz teamed up with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer he wouldn’t be waiting to find out if Chuck was renewed for a fourth season.
And one last pick up, TV Land is high on their own scripted programming because today they announced that Retired at 35 will be their second scripted comedy and it will premiere early next year. TV Land described the show as “David (Johnathan McClain), a successful young businessman decides to leave the rat race of New York City behind and move into his parents’ (George Segal and Jessica Walter) Florida retirement home to reconnect with them, re-evaluate his life and live the dream of retirement that so many are working toward. While in Florida, David reunites with his best friend Brandon, (Josh McDermitt) and realizes that his former crush Jessica (Ryan Michelle Bathe) is still as beautiful and elusive as ever. Living close by is David’s sister, Amy (Casey Wilson) who has finally found a boyfriend Paul (Matt Champagne).” Considering TV Land airs some of the greatest sitcoms of all time like All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Bewitched, Roseanne and Three’s Company, I think they will know to make future classics with Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35!

Betty White helped open up Pink’s at their new location at Universal City Walk by downing a naked hot dog. Normally that is enough for jokes, but looking at how expressive her face is, I don’t have to say anything! Gotta love Betty White! Only the Golden Girl can eat a hot dog like that and get away with it!
Miss Betty White is always pretty, but she is especially pretty in pink!
BTW I have never had a Pink’s hot dog because the lines are always too long and I have heard they are not that good.

Mariska Hargitay, Tina Fey and Sheryl Crow were all at the Matrix Awards and the 30 Rock and Cougartown stars didn’t tell the Law & Order: SVU star to wear the same flower dress that they were wearing. I can’t believe that Tina and Sheryl both came in that dress. Yes it is springy, but to me it is also fugly.
When it comes to who wore it better…Fey or Crow? I am going with Mariska Hargitay, she was lucky she didn’t get the memo.
