That’s a Bingo!!! Over the weekend Quentin Tarantino’s WWII masterpiece Inglourious Basterds became his highest grossing movie to date domestically surpassing the $108 million that Pulp Fiction made in 1994. It took the movie less than a month to beat his old box office numbers largely because of all the great word of mouth and it is the first movie to see a positive growth from Twitter. While other movies have been hampered due to it, Inglourious Basterds was helped by all the positive feedback and Tweets. The Weinstein Company’s Co-chairman Harvey Weinstein had this to say about QT’s huge milestone, “We have been Quentin’s biggest fans since the beginning. It was extremely gratifying to see ‘Inglourious Basterds’ put up such huge numbers. It is a kick ass film from a director who always keeps me and audiences on their toes.”
IB is definitely a kick a$$ movie that has to be seen more than once which also helped to keep this movie towards the top of the box office charts! So if you haven’t seen it yet run out and see it now, and if you have seen why not go see it again!!! Heck we are all going to be re-watching it in March anyways to see Christoph Waltz’s Oscar winning performance again!!!
So last week some guy, who we never heard of, who worked at Disney left (or was asked to walk the plank depending who you read) and his departure has put Pirates of the Caribbean 4 in trouble. The LA Times spoke to Captain Sparrow aka Johnny Depp about Dick Cook’s departure and he told them without the guy who brought him aboard for the first one, he is not sure he wants to do the fourth one. He told them that he really trusted Cook and the feeling was mutual because the studio wasn’t sure of the direction that Depp wanted to take Sparrow in the first one but Cook stood by him and as we saw they won out.
As for the fourth planned “Pirates” movie, Depp said while he has a potential deal in place that will depend on how good the script is, his passion for the project at the moment has been severely dampened by the news that Cook will no longer be around.
“There’s a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment,” Depp said. “It was all born in that office.”
I have a feeling we might not be getting a fourth Pirates for a while because Depp seems very loyal and this guy Cook sounds like someone you want to be loyal too. Plus it just seems to be delayed indefinitely and with rumors that both Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are out and the third one doing so poorly, it sounds like POTC4 is in big trouble? Maybe we will just get the Son of Pirates of the Caribbean in about 10 years?
Fresh off his awesome job of hosting the Emmys, Neil Patrick Harris is doing what he does best…starring on How I Met Your Mother tonight at 8p! HIMYM starts out by wrapping up last season’s finale cliffhanger and we find out if Ted’s future wife is in the class he is teaching and if Barney and Robin are dating. Well at least we sort of find out! You will just have to check out how much we find out in this hilarious episode that proves How I Met Your Mother just gets better with age. Seriously you going to LYAO when you see the big blunder Ted makes on first day of teaching, let’s just say it is legen-wait for it-dary! Plus you will love how Lily tries to get Barney and Robin to have the talk. Oh and will find out who uses the whip in Marshall and Lily’s relationship, the answer will surprise you tonight on CBS at 8p!!!
Following How I Met Your Mother on CBS at 8:30p is the premiere of Accidentally on Purpose. The only new sitcom coming to CBS this season stars Jenna Elfman as Billie a thirty-something woman who gets knocked up after a one night stand with a much younger man. Her friend, Ashley Jensen and her sister are there support her as she asks her cub/baby daddy to move in with her. By asking him to move in, she winds up also having his immature friends to hang out there too. Billie is also dealing with the breakup of her ex-boyfriend/boss (Grant Show) who told her he wasn’t ready to commit, but now he is telling her that he is but he doesn’t know she is pregnant by another man. Sounds like a sitcom for the year 2009, and it will be interesting to see if this one will make it to 2010?
CBS has pretty much had one hole in their Monday two-hour comedy block and that one show has always survived because it aired after Two and a Half Men. But this year they changed it up and gave both of Chuck Lorre’s show 2.5 and The Big Bang Theory the 9p hour leaving Accidentally on Purpose to follow HIMYM which has its loyal audience but not the ratings that 2.5 gets. So it will be interesting if people will stay tuned to watch AoP after HIMYM. And now that Jenna Elfman is almost 4 months pregnant and will need to take maternity leave before the end of the season, it will be interesting to see if they will rush production to beat the baby or just end the show’s run early and replace it with Rules of Engagement that by some miracle got picked up for another season???
BTW did I mention that Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory are back tonight! I can’t wait to see how much more risque TBBT gets with its new later timeslot of 9:30p!!!

I never thought I would say this, but Shia LaBeouf actually cleans up nicely. The Transformers star is donning a suit for his next movie Wall Street 2. While I am not sure I can believe him playing a stock broker, he actually looks good pretending to be one on the big screen. What do you think of Shia being all dapper?
House is back with a two-hour season premiere tonight on Fox at 8p and what a season premiere it is. Tonight’s episode is not your typical House episode because instead of him being a doctor in a hospital trying to find out what is wrong with his patients, he is a patient in a mental hospital. On the behind-the-scenes feature on the DVD that was sent out for review, Executive Producer Katie Jacobs, who directed tonight’s episode says that the season premiere feels more like a telemovie than your typical House and she is so right. Even though it doesn’t feel like House, it is still House and will make you more excited for the upcoming season because Dr Gregory House goes through a transformation that will change him forever and I can’t wait to see how.
Katie Jacobs also said unlike previous season premieres this one picks up where the last one left off. House has just entered the facility and it will follow him through his entire time there. Being House he doesn’t want to be there, but when he is told if he leaves early the doctor won’t sing the letter that will clear him to practice medicine again so he stays. At first he puts up a fight, and when House is bad he is very very bad. But when he realizes that doesn’t work he finally decides to accept the help he needs. Seeing House go through a major change during the season premiere really makes me wonder what we are going to get this season and I will be there every Monday at 8p on Fox to watch it happen!!! But before that happens check out tonight’s season premiere to see how the new and improved House comes about.
