The Sci Fi Channel was reborn today as SyFy. To help say hello to Imagine Greater network they are premiering Warehouse 13 at 9p! And then on Friday at 9p Eureka is back with people from the smartest town in American doing stupid things! I just love that show.
I am not sure what changes exactly will be happening to the re-branded network, but I just hope they don’t change their Saturday movies because I just love them!
Yesterday it was announced that the ’80s classic TV show TJ Hooker was being turned into a movie, and now today Variety is reporting that the ’90s international sensation Baywatch was going to the big screen too. Paramount has hired Jeremy Garelick, who just worked his magic on The Hangover to do the same for Baywatch.
DreamWorks paid seven figures for remake rights in 2005 and got a script by Jay Scherick and David Ronn that was heavy on action. Garelick was sent the script do a punch-up. Though he never saw the original TV show and its well-rounded cast, he saw an opportunity to turn it into broad comedy.
“It felt like the template to do a movie that was similar to ‘Stripes’ and ‘Police Academy,’ the comedies I loved growing up,” Garelick said. “Rather than trying to pitch the tone, I figured it would be easier to write the first act to convey who these characters were,” Garelick said.
Some 37 pages later, Garelick has landed the job. The script now focuses on two unlikely lifeguard candidates trying to catch on alongside the buff bodies that will be as abundant in the film as they were in the TV series.
See this is what I hate about Hollywood, why do they have to say it is a Baywatch movie when the only thing it has in common with the show is it is about lifeguards? Just give it a new title, you know the movie might do better if it were disassociated from the show and then in the future a movie respecting (did I just type that) can be made? Strange concept, no?
Matt Damon put on the pounds to play The Informant and the look totally worked for the role. I have to admit I hate hate hate Steven Soderbergh films, but after watching that trailer I actually want to see that movie. Either his character is the smartest oaf in the world or just luckiest. I can’t wait to see who he tells what to when the movie comes out on October 9th.
I know Hayden Pannettiere is young and proud of her figure, but I just don't think she has the right body or 'tude for a dress like that. I wish she would more clothes with more fabric as compared to less. Especially in a ugly old woman's dress like that.
