Cane is CBS latest family drama and this one is going to be as hot as the city is based in…Miami!
CANE is an epic drama about the external rivalries and internal power struggles of a large Cuban-American family running an immensely successful rum and sugar business in South Florida. When the family patriarch, Pancho, is offered a lucrative but questionable deal by his bitter adversaries, the Samuels, to purchase thousands of acres of sugar fields, he's faced with a tough choice: Should he cash out of the sugar business and focus solely on rum, which would please his impulsive natural son, Frank, or protect the family legacy that he built from the ground up by not selling, and side with his adopted son, Alex, who mistrusts the Samuels and still sees value in sugar? Alex and Frank's approach to business is as different as their approach to life. While Frank might lose focus chasing women, Alex is deeply in love with his beautiful wife, Isabel, who is also Pancho's daughter. Married when she was just 17 years old, Isabel balances Alex by choosing not to involve herself in the business, focusing instead on their three children, Jaime, Katie and Artie, who are determined to forge their own paths outside the family. Jaime has a deep love for his father, but also yearns to make it on his own outside of the family business and when he's accepted to a reputable college he must face the decision to please Alex or stick by his beloved girlfriend Rebecca and choose a new life. Katie is their rebellious teenage daughter who looks and acts far older than she is. Henry, Pancho's youngest son, prefers to stand in the sidelines while his oldest siblings battle for control of the Duque's interests. While her sons wrestle with their own personal difficulties and secrets, Pancho's wife, Amalia, sees to the normal inter-personal conflicts that occur within an extended family and bridges the gap between the three generations hosting the family's large music-filled cookouts and lively dinners. For the Duques, will family allegiance come first or will their secrets and acrimonious conflicts over love, lust and control of the family fortune be their downfall?
While this show is not necessarily my cup of cafe con leche, that does not mean the show won't be a success. Out of all the new shows I have seen this is the one I can see going on to getting nominated for several Emmys. The problem I had with it, is just the fact that I lived in Miami for so many years and I just couldn't get used to so many non-Cubans playing Cubans. It is kind of like when people of a certain accent can't stand when they hear someone fake it. If the show was not about a Cuban family I would have liked it a lot more.
So if you not familiar with the whole Miami/Cuban thing then you will really like this show. So tune into to Cane tonight on CBS at 10p

Anyone else find Drew Lachey extremely annoying on DWTS? |
September 24th, 2007 under Dancing with the Stars. [ Comments: 3 ]

I loved Drew Lachey on Dancing with the Stars when he was just dancing and silent. But now that he is filling in for Samantha Harris I can't wait for her to come back! Everytime he talks with that voice, I just cringe. His voice is made for blogging. And his hosting skills are really weak and bland. ABC better send him to hosting school before he hosts that DWTS spinoff show or that show will go down faster than Billy Ray Cyrus' scores.
Please ABC have multiple guest hosts until Samantha Harris comes back, anoyone but Drew nasilily Lachey.
BTW I will not be watching Dance Wars unless they get a new host, that is much he irritated me.

TV Week is reporting that if the Family Guy's Star Wars episode did well in the ratings that they would most likely be able to do an Empire Strikes Back one too! How freakin' sweet would it be if they could play out all 6 Star Wars episodes!!! I can't wait to see who they cast as Yoda and Jar Jar Binks!!!
Fingers crossed it will happen because last night's episode kicked a$$!!!
BTW the force was with Family Guy when it comes to ratings!!!
