Grease car falls off Dutch stage
February 26th, 2007 under Stage. [ Comments: none ]

Dutch theatregoers were shocked on Sunday night when a would-be John Travolta and his Olivia Newton-John lookalike counterpart were injured as their car plunged into the orchestra pit during a performance of the musical Grease. Jim Bakkum was concussed and Bettina Holwerda may have broken her arm, the director of the Almere City Theatre Peter Swinkels told Dutch television. "Jim was driving. … She (Bettina) was able to jump off before it went over the edge, and Jim went down with the car," Swinkels told RTL Nieuws. The car landed in an empty part of the pit, and no musicians were injured. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment in Almere, 15 kilometres east of Amsterdam. The car, dubbed "Greased Lighting" during a song in the play, was made up of the chassis of a classic red-and-white convertible and the engine of a golf cart. The incident took place during a scene where the characters made famous by Travolta and Newton-John in the movie version – Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson – go to a drive-in movie in the car.

That had to be scary. I was watching Grease, You're the One That I Want when I read this and I almost feel that show is going in the same direction as the car..

I knew going into tonight's Oscars it was going to be painful because the noms were movies that no one went to see, nor would they really want to. That being said that is not why I did not like tonight's Oscars. I was so hoping for Ellen Degeneres to be amazing, but she way nervous and did nothing that memorable. Remind me if she did. The opening number with the noms went way too long. The dancers were cool, who created shapes or whatever they did, but I could've lived without them. The singing number between Jack Black, Will Ferrell and John C Reilly went on too long and again wasted way too much time. Why did Celine Dion sing? As is the case with every Oscars, too many clip specials for no reason and are again a waste of time. Just because Al Gore was there, did they have to spend so much time telling us this is a green Oscars…so I care because? And what about the unfunny intros into every freaking nomination, they were longer than any thank you speech. I mean seriously could they be any more wordy? They go off on the winners for long speeches and the producers of this show made everything longer than the winners 45 second acceptance speeches. This is about the winners so hopefully next year it will be more about the winners and less about the show. But since that never seems to change, I don't have my hopes up for that.

When it comes to attire there was nothing either way that made me go wow. Everyone looked good, but couldn't Philip Seymour Hoffman have brushed his hair for the Academy Awards? Seriously what was up with that?

Now I will say there were some positive things about tonight's Oscars. I really liked Helen Mirren, Forrest Whitaker and Martin Scorsesse's speeches. I am so glad he finally won. There might've been a few more speeches I liked, I just can't remember now. How cute was it having the Little Miss Sunshine girl and Will Smith's son present? I also thought John Travolta was great, but he is always a great presenter! Plus it was great how George Lucas, Stephen Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola gave Martin Scorsesse the award! And when it comes to the winners, I didn't really care about who was nominated before the show, why would I care who won.

I should say now that my rant is over, I have never been an Oscar girl. My movies never win. And yes I feel better getting that off my chest.

Why was Jack Nicholson bald?
February 25th, 2007 under Jack Nicholson. [ Comments: none ]

The big question to me at tonight's Oscars, is why was Jack Nicholson bald? Was it a tribute to Britney Spears? Was he trying to hide the fact that he was losing his hair? Hopefully is not sick? I mean Jack Nicholson is man made by his hair! So why?

Well it is simple, he is doing a movie. Jack along with Morgan Freeman are playing two terminally ill men who find each other in a cancer ward and spend their last days living out  a list of things to do before they die. The Bucket List, director by Rob Reiner is due out in November and I can't wait to see it!

Looks like we know who is going to be nominated for Oscars next year…Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman for Best Actor, Rob Reiner for Best Director and The Bucket List for Best Picture, don't you think?

K-Fed brings the boys to Britney Spears in rehab
February 25th, 2007 under Britney Spears/KFed. [ Comments: none ]

(photo from Flynet Online
People says that K-Fed brought Sean Preston and Jayden James to Britney Spears who is still in rehab last night. "The kids are his No. 1 priority and they always have been," the source says. "He's so stressed out right now. He only wants the best for Britney and the kids." You have to admire him for the way he is handling the situation. If he wanted to, he could kick her when she is down, but instead he is supporting her. Good for him!

The new Hostel 2 poster
February 25th, 2007 under Eli Roth. [ Comments: none ]

Eli Roth’s MySpace
Page Six said when they shot this poster they shot it in an apartment with the window open and the blinds up and people were able to look as Bijou Phillips posed. But Bijou didn’t mind because she is an exhibitionist.
Eli Roth has been pushing the envelope with the posters for this movie. The first one looks like someone insides and now this one of a topless and headless Bijou. Hopefully the movie will push the envelope like his other movies Cabin Fever and Hostel! Which I am sure it will.
