Tyra Banks to keep talking for two more years |

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) has effectively renewed Telepictures Productions’ syndicated The Tyra Banks Show for two additional seasons. Currently in its second season, Tyra has been renewed through the end of the 2008-09 on Fox-owned stations in 22 markets, including WNYW New York, KTTV Los Angeles and WPWR Chicago. “Tyra has shown steady growth over its first 18 months on the air and has broadened its demographic appeal, especially in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos,” said WBDTD President Ken Werner. “Fox, Sinclair and other Tyra stations have remarked on how this series has truly blossomed on the air.” “We are obviously thrilled with Tyra, which is quite evident by our giving the series a two season vote of confidence,” said Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations.“We believe this show has quickly become a franchise and will continue to grow into a true powerhouse for years to come.” The renewal comes despite a 12% year-to-year drop in household ratings. It is averaging a 1.4 AA rating season season-to-date in Nielsen national syndication rankings, down from a 1.6 a year ago. Warner Bros. blames the decline on a loss of some double runs this season.

Tawny Kitean begins her six month stay in rehab |

 Actress Tawny Kitaen, best known as the star of a series of 1980s heavy metal videos, has entered a drug rehabilitation program to resolve cocaine possession charges, her lawyer said on Monday. Kitaen, 45, was facing a possible three years in prison on the felony charge of possessing 15 grams of cocaine but entered a six-month drug rehab program last week, lawyer Blair Berk told reporters. Kitaen appeared in Orange County Superior Court last week, ahead of Monday’s scheduled arraignment, and won a "deferred entry of judgment," Berk said. If she fails to comply with the terms of agreement she could be automatically convicted. Prosecutors have said police were summoned in May to the home Kitaen shares with her two children in San Juan Capistrano, California, and discovered 15 grams of cocaine.

ABC is continuing to back its late-night horse, giving Jimmy Kimmel a cameo in a new comedy and a post-Academy Awards special for the second straight year. The network continues to pound away on building the brand of Kimmel, who will make an appearance in the upcoming rookie sitcom In Case Of Emergency and also hosts Set For Life, which ABC is set to debut sometime in 2007. Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards will air Sunday night, February 25, after the Oscars and local news. Kimmel will also have rookie Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres on the Tuesday prior to the Academy Awards. Kimmel’s post-Oscar telecast this year drew 4 million viewers, the third-highest number ever for the show. Kimmel’s show continues to gain traction for ABC, despite its unfriendly Nightline lead-in

 BRITNEY SPEARS continued to enjoy her "newfound freedom" over the weekend, but got a chilly reception at the Staples Center in L.A. Things reportedly turned ugly Sunday night when Britney attended a Lakers/Wizards basketball game with her agent and her little sister, JAMIE LYNN SPEARS. The pop princess left before halftime after fans reportedly booed her image when it appeared on the Jumbotron! On Friday night, Britney stepped out for her mother’s birthday party in L.A., wearing a see-through black lace dress that exposed her hot pink bra and black panties. Paparazzi eagerly shot photos of the mom of two as she arrived at the swank eatery Dominick’s and then headed to famed burlesque dance club 40 Deuce for some more late-night revelry. Britney has received a lot of flack recently for her partying ways. In a message posted on her Web site 10 days ago, she addressed her recent string of late-night antics, even playfully mentioning the undergarment snafu that has become national news.
