The latest James Bond film has revived the popularity of the Martini cocktail ingredient dry white vermouth, a retailer said today. Tesco reported a record 65% rise in sales since Casino Royale hit the big screen. Demand has been fuelled by fans creating their versions of the famous "shaken not stirred" drink at Bond-themed parties, the retailer said. Sales of dry white vermouth – which is made by Martini and other brands – usually peak only during the warm summer months, Tesco said. The chain’s spirits buyer Simon Dunn said: "Martini cocktails have made a bit of a comeback in trendy city bars in the last year but this is the first time we have seen a significant rise in demand for bottles of vermouth." Martini cocktails are made with dry white vermouth plus either gin or vodka with an added green olive.

Jessica Simpson has quashed rumors she is to star in a remake of ‘Working Girl’. It had been reported that the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ actress was going to play Tess McGill – an aspiring businesswoman, who was played by Melanie Griffith in the original – in a reworking of the popular 80s film. Jessica insists she has no plans to appear in the movie and is currently busy with other projects. She said: "I don’t know where those rumors came from. I’m making a film called ‘Blonde Ambition’ that I’m doing with Luke Wilson." Jessica believes the confusion may have arisen because her new film has a similar plot to ‘Working Girl’. She added: "It’s along the same lines as ‘Working Girl’. A small town girl moving to New York and turning into a great businesswoman."

Would you pay to hear Tom Cruise sing You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling? |

Tom Cruise is reportedly planning to release the Top Gun classic You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ with his new wife, Katie. The 44-year-old Mission Impossible star serenaded his new bride with the Righteous Brothers’ hit on his wedding day last weekend in Bracciano, Italy. The Daily Star reports that the guests, which included some top music executives, were so impressed with his moving rendition that they gave him a standing ovation – and a chance to record the track as a romantic duet. The crooner is prepared to take up the offer as long as he can donate all the profits to the Church Of Scientology. However music bosses are reluctant to channel the earnings into the controversial religion. A source said: "Tom’s got a great voice. And he’s loved that song ever since his Top Gun character Maverick sang it to woo his love interest Kelly McGillis. "And Katie proved how talented she is when she performed in The Singing Detective remake. "Music chiefs know it would be a massive hit so they don’t want to lose all the money to a bizarre religious following. "But Tom’s adamant. He said the song is a symbol of their love and Scientology is the basis of their companionship."

K-Fed knows he is America’s most hated |

Kevin Federline is "America’s most hated man" following his split from pop princess Britney Spears, the wannabe rapper claims. Federline made the statement during a performance at Hollywood’s House Of Blues last night. Since the pair separated earlier this month, the 28-year-old has been vilified in the press as a gold-digging freeloader, capitalising on his wife’s success and wealth. But a packed house turned out to see a resilient Federline perform tracks from his debut album Playing With Fire. After lashing out at his detractors – shouting from the stage, "F**k the haters, f**k the media, f**k the paparazzi" – Federline adapted lyrics to one of his songs; when a member of his entourage asked onstage, "Why does America hate you?" he replied, "Maybe because I took their Queen. I am America’s most hated."

I wouldn’t say he is the most hated, but I would put him the Top 10!
