Daniel Craig refused to go from Blond, James Blond |

James Bond actor Daniel Craig pumped iron for months to build up a 007 torso, but there was one dramatic change he would not undertake – the man with the golden gun refused to part with his golden hairdo. Despite pressure from directors, Craig would not change the colour of his locks from blond to dark brown for Casino Royale, which is on course to become the most successful Bond film ever. He said: "I was asked to dye my hair brown to play this role but it was out of the question. "I suggested instead that I could cut my hair really short to create a more brutal appearance." Those who initially opposed Craig as Ian Fleming’s legendary British agent cited a number of factors, ranging from his height – at 5ft 11in he is shorter than all the previous Bond actors by at least 2in – to his unremarkable looks. But it was his hair which provoked the most criticism, with many referring to him as "James Blond’. Answering critics that he often appeared more like a "James Bond girl’ in some scenes, especially when he emerges from the sea wearing nothing but a pair of swimming trunks, Craig agreed. He said: "The times change. That scene was a wink to Ursula Andress in Dr No, who also played Vesper Lynd in the first Casino Royale in 1967. Four decades later and it’s James who leaves the water in swimming trunks and attracts the looks." The criticisms, however, have faded away as Casino Royale raked in the biggest-ever opening for a Bond film in Britain last weekend, as it grossed £13.4million and topped the UK box office.

I have to admit at first I hated that he was a blond Bond, but now I like it!

Michael Richards to do Jesse Jackson’s radio show |

Comedian Michael Richards said Sunday he did not consider himself a racist, and said he was "shattered" by the comments he made to two young black men during a tirade at a Los Angeles comedy club. Richards appeared on the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s nationally syndicated radio program, "Keep Hope Alive," as a part of a series of apologies for the incident. He said he knew his comments hurt the black community, and hoped to meet with the two men. He told Jackson that he had not used the language before. "That’s why I’m shattered by it. The way this came through me was like a freight train. After it was over, when I went to look for them, they had gone. And I’ve tried to meet them, to talk to them, to get some healing," he said. Richards told Jackson the tirade was fueled by anger, not bigotry. "I was in a place of humiliation," he said. Richards’ publicist, Howard Rubenstein, said Saturday that Richards has begun psychiatric counseling in Los Angeles to learn how to manage his anger and understand why he made the racist remarks. "He acknowledged that his statements were harmful and opened a terrible racial wound in our nation," Rubenstein said. "He pledges never ever to say anything like that again. He’s quite remorseful." Jackson, who has called Richards’ words "hateful," "sick," and "deep-seated," said the comedian’s inclusion on the show was a chance for a broader discussion about "cultural isolation" in the entertainment industry. "We might turn this minus into a plus," Jackson said.

Princes William and Harry are planning a star-studded pop concert next year in honour of their late mother Diana, Princess of Wales. The event marking 10 years since her death is due to be held at Wembley stadium on July 1, which would have been her 46th birthday, the Sunday Mirror said. William and Harry are expected to host the concert for 90,000 fans featuring performers from Britain and the US including Sir Elton John. The royal brothers want it to be an "upbeat, joyous tribute to her life and work", according to the newspaper. It said the event is expected to be screened live on television to a worldwide audience of millions. Proceeds are likely to go to homeless charity Centrepoint, a favourite of Diana’s, and other causes championed by the princes. A Clarence House spokesman said: "We’re considering a number of options on how best to commemorate next year. William and Harry will make a decision in due course."

I wonder who they are going to get?
UPDATE: Daily Mail has some of the names of the artists that the Princes want to play like Beyonce, Pharrell and The Killers.
