NBC announces it new lineup
November 29th, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" is staying put on Monday nights, while the Donald is about to do battle with the "Desperate Housewives." NBC has also drafted its 2007 recruits in the annual battle against "American Idol": "Deal or No Deal" and "Dateline NBC." Those are the key moves in Peacock’s midseason sked, which the net confirmed Wednesday after weeks of speculation. Despite buzz that "Studio 60" would get a new timeslot, skein’s stable ratings in the Monday timeslot convinced execs to leave the Aaron Sorkin skein exactly where it is. Rest of NBC’s Monday sked — "Deal or No Deal" and "Heroes" — remains stet. As for Donald Trump’s "The Apprentice," skein will begin its new LA-based cycle in a new timeslot: 9 p.m. Sundays. "Crossing Jordan" will follow at 10 p.m., while "Grease: You’re the One That I Want" will, as previously announced, air at 8 p.m. Sundays. While "Studio 60" won’t switch timeslots in January, the critic-friendly "Friday Night Lights" is shifting from Tuesdays to Wednesday nights in January. It’ll still air at 8 p.m. "Dateline NBC" will replace "FNL" on Tuesdays, squaring off against "Idol." Peacock’s two-hour "Law & Order" block remains from 9-11 p.m. Moves largely protect "FNL" from the "Idol" juggernaut, though it’ll still get nicked on nights Fox decides to expand the "Idol" results show. NBC’s second weekly edition of "Deal or No Deal" will fly right into the eye of Hurricane Idol, airing Wednesdays at 9. "Medium" continues to air at 10 p.m. Peacock is leaving Thursday and Friday nights largely untouched, while Saturday remains in repeats. Net will announce premiere dates and slots for new dramas "The Black Donnellys" and "Raines" later.

Variety

I still think they would be better off switching Studio 60 and Medium and not sure FNL will benefit with it’s new timeslot because it will still be up against the two hour Wednesdays Idol. But the positive thing is they are killing Trump by putting his bad hair against DH!!!

I can’t believe they killed Gracie, she was my favorite bitch so far this season. I am so going to miss this show while it is off the air. I still think it is a huge mistake to pull it until Feb sweeps, but what do I know I just watch TV.

Chris Daughtry shows he is an American Idol on the charts!
November 29th, 2006 under Daughtry. [ Comments: none ]

The beginning of the holiday shopping season, post-Thanksgiving, boosted album sales all around (36% above last week’s total sales) and generated some good individual numbers. The best was Jay-Z’s 680,000 for Kingdom Come, his best sales week ever, although below earlier projections. The debut album by Daughtry, headed by American Idol’s No. 4 finisher, Chris Daughtry, comes in at No. 2 with 304,000, the best first-week total for an Idol so far this year. Now 23 was third, followed by The Beatles’ remix album, LOVE, with 272,000 sold, and Snoop Dogg’s Blue Carpet Treatment at No. 5 with 264,000. The rest of the top 10 is Beyonce, Hannah Montana, Akon, the debut of 2Pac’s Pac’s Life, and Keith Urban. More detail and still more fascinating facts follow.

Listen Up

Good for him I knew he was going to be the biggest seller from this group of American Idols! Well I know Taylor and McPriss are not out yet, but both their albums were delayed. Hicks by a week and McPriss by over a month. It is never a good sign when they delay an album. Go Chris, you deserve this man!!!
