Would you see Culture Club without Boy George?
June 19th, 2006 under Boy George. [ Comments: none ]

80s pop group Culture Club are reforming – without original singer Boy George.

Record label bosses want to replace the flamboyant frontman with a new boy or girl.

The advert – posted on gumtree.com – reads: "We want a unique vocalist with a brilliant voice take part in a 2007 World Tour and TV series.

"We do not want a karaoke Boy George ‘lookalike’ but a charismatic and unique performer in his or her own right with something truly fresh, contemporary and original to offer."

The original band had a string of hits in the 80s, including ‘Karma Chameleon’, ‘Church Of The Poison Mind’ and ‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’ before splitting in 1997.

Culture Club reunited briefly in 1998 then broke up again shortly after.

Seriously, I am not sure I would. I saw them a few years ago and they were amazing. Culture Club without Boy George is like INXS without Michael Hutchence.

How rich dad’s deal with eating disorders…

Nicole Richie’s father, Lionel, reportedly promised his daughter and some friends a Caribbean yacht cruise if she’d put on weight. “Lionel thought some of Nicole’s pals were encouraging her to stay skinny,” a source told the London Sun. “So he thought if he gave them an incentive to get Nicole to put weight on then that would help her.”

How do you measure this man?
June 19th, 2006 under American Idol 1-5. [ Comments: none ]

I say less than 6"

The man who claimed to have had a one-night stand with Clay Aiken now says he’s sorry he blabbed.

John Paulus, the former Green Beret who took his tale to the National Enquirer, isn’t retracting the story — but he now says he “regrets” going public with it. “I regret defying the trust of Clay;” Paulus writes on his blog. “I regret hurting him, his family and his fans; I regret that I started a blog that ridiculed him. … I apologize to Clay for that and I hope he will accept.” Aiken’s rep didn’t return The Scoop’s calls for comment.

Paulus also claims that in a “very callow and selfish moment” he passed along the story to the National Enquirer, then changed his mind and tried to get the tab to kill it, and even took legal measures to stop it, sending a cease-and-desist letter to the Enquirer. That’s not quite the way the editors at the tab remember it. “Our reporter couldn’t get him off the phone,” National Enquirer editor David Perel told The Scoop. Perel says he doesn’t remember Paulus having a legal letter sent, but says even if there was one, Paulus is “completely distorting” the story. “It’s not a situation where he told the story one time,” Perel said. “He engaged in multiple conversations with our reporter. He couldn’t stop talking, and then he talked to reporters after it was out.”

TMZ vs Beyonce’s dad…
June 19th, 2006 under Beyoncé. [ Comments: none ]

Note To Beyonce’s Dad — Back Off

The undercover video we posted last Friday — showing how PETA ambushed  Beyonce at Nobu restaurant in New York City — has triggered a pretty big debate.

Did PETA go too far by winning a charity auction to dine with Beyonce, then setting her up with an undercover camera?  Did TMZ go too far by posting the video?

I’m not trying to put myself out as a moral compass, but there are some undeniable truths here.  First, the process of creating fur is an ugly, brutal and arguably torturous business.  As for whether it’s an acceptable practice, well that’s the subject of legitimate, intense debate.

I’m more than a little surprised that people are shocked that PETA went after Beyonce.  Remember, Beyonce does more than wear fur — she has a line of clothing that includes fur.  It’s one thing if PETA broke into Beyonce’s house, but for cryin’ out loud, confronting her at Nobu… You put yourself out on an issue of intense emotion, what on earth do you expect?

Beyonce’s dad/manager went ballistic on TMZ, but we will not take this video down.  First of all, we didn’t shoot it.  Second, it’s a legit story.  We do not sanitize news and present only what is acceptable to celebs and their relatives.  We won’t be strong-armed by bullies and threats.  That’s it.

OMG, I am so rooting for TMZ.

Side note – I am so sick of PETA and their over-the-top antics.
