[ # ] The Simpsons cast wants more money, means less episodes
May 21st, 2008 under Fox

The voice actors from The Simpsons want more money and until they get they won't come back to the show according to Variety. They want to go from $360,000 to $500,000 plus bonuses per episode to sit in a room and read lines. Poor babies. They want an extra $140,000 an episode while families larger than the cast make less than half that in a year.

Production has been already been cut from 22 episodes to 20 and if they don't come to terms soon the amount of episodes will be cut even more.

Personally let them cut away because of the actors crappy attitude I am done with the show that hasn't been good since they were making double-digits an episode.

Long live Family Guy, American Dad and Cleveland!!!

if you only understood how hard it is to do animation than actual movies - it’s much harder acting wise…

yes, but the people asking for more money are the VOICE ACTORS. All they have to do is stand in a sound studio and read lines off a piece of paper. I don’t think that doing that is worth 500k….or even anything close to that.

How much profit is Fox making per episode? If they’re making extremely large profits, then it only makes sense to share it with the people making it possible. Umm, are the animators making any demands? Well anyway, the Roseanne show managed pretty good with different Becky’s — I could handle different voices a lot better than a different actress, just in case the voice actors’ demands are unreasonable.

I think it’s actually harder to convey emption with just the voice…and this is an industry where people make absurd amounts of money, plus most of them voice several characters. That show has made major bank for years, why shouldn’t they get their fair share like everyone else? Compared to other long-running shows they are getting less money. Singers just “sit in a room” when they make an album, too…it’s the end product that matters.
