Seth Meyers, without my approval, is taking some time off from Late Night with Seth Meyers. But his people are still distributing social media content.
One of the things they shared with us was his Q&A with the audience and someone asking how Day Drinking with Seth Meyers got started.
The segment originally started when Seth and his Gavin Newsom-looking brother, Josh, would go from bar to bar drinking. Then they realized checking out bars is boring. However, watching them get drunk is not.
So when Good Girls’ Retta asked him if she could go Day Drinking with him, he said yes, and the segment was born. Because of that, many celebrities, like Rihanna, Lizzo, and Paul Rudd, have woken up with some of their worst hangovers.
How many times can we see him and a celebrity get shitfaced every season? Meyers says, “We only do two or three a year cause we feel like at some point, people are going to be like, ‘This guy’s too old.'”
That people is probably his wife, Alexi, who has spent many nights regretting her husband’s decisions.
Who do you want to see Meyers get drunk with? My first choice is Timothy Olyphant. And my second choice is Henry Winkler, who asked to do it even though he doesn’t drink. Now, I wish Betty White were still alive because she probably could have drunk him under the table.
