The Grammys were supposed to take place on January 31st in Los Angeles, but they have been postponed because COVID-19 is so rampant in the city. Therefore, CBS and the Recording Academy have decided for everyone’s safety; it is best to wait. Variety is reporting that they might move it to March.
Personally, I know they want to hold it, but I think they can skip a year. Make it even bigger in 2022. If we make it to 2022.
I wonder if the other award shows will also postpone their big nights. They should.
UPDATE: The Grammys have officially been postponed.
Here is the statement from the Grammys and CBS, “After thoughtful conversations with health experts, our host and artists scheduled to appear, we are rescheduling ‘The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards®’ to be broadcast Sunday, March 14, 2021. The deteriorating COVID situation in Los Angeles, with hospital services being overwhelmed, ICUs having reached capacity, and new guidance from state and local governments have all led us to conclude that postponing our show was the right thing to do. Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those in our music community and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly on producing the show.”
