When Jane (Katie Stevens) was just a child she lost her mom to breast cancer, she has never fully gotten over that and it is still a sensitive issue for her. As you will witness when she gets into a fight with her editor-in-chief Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin), who assigns her to do a story on whether women in their 20’s should be tested for the BRCA gene. Jane thinks it is too young to know, but her mother was diagnosed at just 32 years old.
