When you think of Sprite, you think of their green bottles. But come August 1st, that will no longer be the case. That is because the bottles are going to be clear, like the soda.
The Coca-Cola Company is making the change because it is easier to recycle the clear bottles than the colored ones.
“Taking colors out of bottles improves the quality of the recycled material,” said Julian Ochoa, CEO, R3CYCLE, which is working with Coca-Cola Consolidated to enable bottle-to-bottle recycling across the largest U.S. bottler’s 14 state-territory. “This transition will help increase availability of food-grade rPET. When recycled, clear PET Sprite bottles can be remade into bottles, helping drive a circular economy for plastic.”
I understand why they are doing it, but can someone leave something from childhood as it was? I mean, not only are they changing the color of the bottle, but they also changed up the logo.
Sprite is not the only one losing the green bottles; so are Coca-Cola’s Fresca, Seagram’s, and Mello Yello.
