George R.R. Martin decided to come out of hiding to go to San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend to promote House of the Dragon. Since we are still in a pandemic, he tried to be safe by wearing a mask at all times and only attended the panel. However, he went out to eat and took off his mask to eat.

Well, at some point between the convention and yesterday’s premiere of his newest show, the author tested positive for COVID-19. Therefore, all of his Los Angeles plans are cancelled. But, he is hoping to be better so he can go to the premiere of the first episode in Sante Fe, New Mexico.

Martin says his only symptoms are a runny nose and an occasional cough. Hopefully, it will stay that way so that he can finish the book he is working on.

I also hope that Comic-Con doesn’t turn into a super spreader event. But, I have a feeling we will be hearing soon that a lot more attendees got coronavirus.
