The world’s most loved child star, Shirley Temple Black, passed away today at the age of 85 according to The NY Times. America’s Sweetheart was discovered at a dance studio when she was just 3 years old and made her first short movie in 1931. After a few small roles, she finally landed her first lead in 1933. In 1934, Stand UP and Cheer was released, just in time for her 5th birthday, and the world fell in love with her. Now over 75 years later we still love this little girl who was sweeter than the Good Ship Lollipop and Animal Crackers in our Soup.
In her later life, the mother of 3, retired from acting and became a US Ambassador from 1969-1992.
So today let’s honor this wonderful woman that we all love by watching one of her movies and drinking a Shirley Temple or two.
