January 14th, 2020 under New Amsterdam

New Amsterdam is back on NBC tonight at 10p and they deliver a powerful episode. When we last left off, the prisoners from Rikers were in Bellvue. Hospital. Tonight, they take over, and the hospital is put on lockdown. This will cause several of the doctors to be locked up together and face their truths.

Dr. Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) was demoted from the head of Oncology, and she is deciding whether or not she wants to stay with the hospital. She tells (Max) of her decision, and he is going to do whatever he can to convince her to stay. Although, it will not help things when they find an injured prisoner who needs their help to survive. They will have to put off Sharpe’s decision until after they save this patient’s life. That is if they can save her with everything going on.

They are not the only ones who have to save someone. Bloom (Janet Montgomery) is out of her surgery and getting wheeled around by Zach (JJ Feild) when the hospital is put on a Code Silver. She and Zach go to hide in a room where a patient needs her appendix out. Bloom is the only person who can operate, but she does not have her pain pills, and she cannot stand on her injured leg. How will she perform the desperately needed surgery?

Meanwhile, Reynolds (Jocko Sims) is in an operating room with a prisoner who is the other prisoner’s target. The other prisoners will do anything to kill her and do not care who else they take down with her. How far will they go to get her?

Iggy (Taylor Labine) and his husband (Mike Doyle) are trapped in a room, and they finally have time to talk out their problems. Will they save their marriage, or is this the end for them?

Finally, Dr. Kapoor (Anupam Kher) is in a room with his son’s pregnant baby mama (Dierdre Friel) and she is afraid she lost his grandchild. Her OCD is causing her to think the worse. Is she right?

Can you believe all of this happens in an hour? But it does. That is why NBC renewed the medical drama for three more seasons. Much to my delight
