If someone’s pants rip, it is funny. Saturday Night Live wants you to laugh with them, so they would love it if that happened to one of the talent during the show. However, they would prefer it be someone doing it during a skit and not during a musical performance. Since it is live TV, you cannot control when it happens. Unfortunately, for the NBC show and Lil Nas X, it happened during his performance of Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
The singer wore tight pants and snaked his way down a stripper’s pole. When he was coming up, he realized he was about to show as much as a stripper. So he used his hand to cover the tear. Then for the next 40 seconds, he had a microphone in both hands.
It is moments like this that make SNL great. Too bad they are not the ones they were planning for.
When it comes to Nas, he wrote, “i know i do a lot of planned shit but ripping my pants on live television is not one of them.” Then he explained, “at first i was afraid to even perform. then we rehearsed for 2 weeks, then all of the dancers got removed because one had covid and new ones had to learn the routine in 24 hours, and then i ended up ripping my pants and couldn’t finish. everything happens for a reason tho lolWhite heart.”
Up until he was the funniest part of the show, he gave one hell of a performance. He might not want to be remembered for what happened, but at least we remember he did the show. Who was the musical guest the week beforehand? See, we will remember him because of it.
