As we know Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford drink on their show every day, but do they ever get buzzed? Kotb’s Today show anchor, Al Roker, just had to know when he asked her to be a guest on his webseries Cold Cuts.
She told him, “We are only buzzed during the show if we do 3-in-a-row.” Then she explained, “Sometimes we have to tape multiple shows. If you are the last guest on the last show, we’d like to apologize.” Now we have to be on the look for the shows that are pretaped ahead of time so that we can see them get a little bit tipsy.
Kotb also explained how Gifford became her co-anchor. One day when she was co-hosting the 10p hour with Natalie Morales and Ann Curry, both of the ladies were set to be on vacation. She wound up being a restaurant with her producer and they saw Gifford at another table. They went up to her and asked Gifford to co-host. Gifford showed up that Monday and the rest is TV history.
Another little reveal from Kotb’s chat with Roker is who is her celebrity crush. It is Blake Shelton and she even named her dog after him.
