Just over a year after Princess Beatrice of York accidentally slashed Ed Sheeran’s cheek in a mock Knight ceremony, the singer is one step closer to actually being Knighted. Prince Charles awarded him with an MBE today according to the
Clarence House and it is a photograph he will proudly display for the rest of his life.
After he was given his medal, he told the press, including BBC, why it means so much that he was awarded it on this day. He said, “My grandfather was a massive royalist. He had all the commemorative plates and stuff, and he died on this day four years ago, so it’s actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he’d be pretty proud.”
Of course his grandfather proud, and he is also proud that the 26-year-old grandson remains humble even after all of his international sucess. The extremely talented musician also told the press, “I don’t have a vast amount of talent compared to other people, I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing.”
Not only is he beyond talented, but he is also very charitable which is why he was honored with the MBE at such a young age.
