Last year we got a new Chucky movie and this year we are getting the 10th Hellraiser and a 10th Children of the Corn. Proving that good slasher horror movies from the ’80s never die. So why haven’t we gotten new ones for Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. The latter was supposed to go to 13 and they never made it. I want my 13th Jason movie.
But right now, let’s focus on Children of the Corn Runaway. The movie “tells the story of young, pregnant Ruth, who escapes a murderous child cult in a small Midwestern town. She spends the next decade living anonymously in an attempt to spare her son the horrors that she experienced as a child. Ruth and her son end up in a small Oklahoma town, but something is following her. Now, she must confront this evil or lose her child.” How terrifying does it look and sound? I don’t think I will be sleeping for several nights after it comes out on home video on March 13th. Which is sadly not a Friday.
