Andrew Lloyd Webber reimagined his long-running show Cats as Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and it was not catnip to audiences. Therefore, it is closing early.
The show was expected to stay open until January, but instead it is crossing over to the Rainbow Bridge on August 8th, according to Broadway.com.
Winning three out of the nine Tonys it was nominated for was not enough to get it to make it until the Fall.
Personally, I am not surprised its run is ending early. Cats sucked. Why did anyone think a reimagining would do any better?
