Two months ago, Weezer released a cover of Toto’s 1982 hit Africa, and now that band is doing a cover of Hash Pipe.
On Monday, Toto began their 40th-anniversary tour in Vancouver, and they debuted their take on the 2001 song. Why this one out of all of Weezer’s hits? Guitarist Steve Lukather explained, “We figured since we were smoking hash since before they were born, that’s the one we should do.” But then again, three out of four of them were alive at the same time as Buddy Holly, so they could have gone with that too.
Either way both covers are totally bitchin’! Time for Jimmy Kimmel to have them on the show and do a Rock Battle with both tunes to see whose take is better. How awesome would that be?

Rivers Cuomo uploaded a video of himself singing Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and it is dream. Seriously if Broadway or NBC decides to do Joseph, I think he would be great for the lead role.
BTW how cool is it to hear the Weezer singer singing the Broadway tune? Not something I ever would’ve expected from the Troublemaker.
Weezer is setting sail from Jacksonville, Fl to the Bahamas next Valentine’s Day weekend and the band is like Say It Ain’t So in this commercial for The Weezer Cruise. You’d think they would be happy to go to their Island in the Sun, but they look more like someone just told them that Buddy Holly is dead. Seriously someone get them a Hash Pipe, so they can be the troublemakers that they are.
BTW I wonder if they are serving Pork and Beans on the cruise? It would be sinful if they didn’t.
Rivers Cuomo has been posting videos of him taking dance lessons and I want to know if the Weezer singer is doing that so he can be on Dancing with the Stars. If he is he will totally need a few more dance lesson because even though he graduated Harvard in his 30s his dancing is not up the Ivy League standards. Having said that, I still think he looks so cute trying his hardest to get the steps down!
Rivers Cuomo has been known for doing covers of other bands’ song during his Weezer shows, but up until now that has been the only type of music we have heard him sing. Well yesterday he Tweeted himself singing Tonight from West Side Story, and I think the Harvard Graduate has chance to make it on Broadway if he wanted to do it. How melodic does his voice sound as he belts out the tune. Bravo! Bravo!!!
