Tyler Perry has a heart as big as his box office numbers, and yesterday he proved it once again. The entertainment mogul paid for all of the groceries during senior hours at 29 Winn-Dixie stores in New Orleans and at 44 Kroger stores in Atlanta, according to CBS46.
Felix Turner, the Atlanta spokesman for Kroger told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “We would like to join our customers in thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic. It was truly a pleasure to see our customers fill with joy and gratitude as the news spread throughout 44 stores across metro Atlanta.”
Janette Maas told AJC that her receipt said, “Atlanta Angel” and “I got my Kroger fuel points.”
He got a lot of points. How many, we don’t know, but his generosity cost him over six digits. That goes with the $21,000 he gave to the 42 out of work employees at his favorite Houston’s restaurant in Atlanta over the weekend.
He truly is an angel. I don’t care what you think about his movies and television shows. We should support his projects because he is always giving back to the community. How many other entertainment giants can you say that about? People like the Kardashians, Mark Wahlberg, Steven Speilberg, David Geffen, Ashton Kutcher, and so on.
This morning, Tyler Perry walked into two Walmarts in the Atlanta area and paid off all of the current layaways that were on hold. Totaling $434,000, which is $178,000 at one store and another $256,000 according to TMZ.
Madea tried to do it anonymously, but that is impossible to do in the days of social media. Therefore, the secret Santa came forward and explained why he did it. He said, “I know it is hard times; a lot of people are struggling. I am just really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this.”
You can tell by his face he got a lot of joy bringing joy to so many others. A little gesture that will make Christmas brighter for all of those families that he impacted.
Some people forget where they came from, but he is not one of them. It is nice to see someone who gives back to those who need it.
On Monday, Tyler Perry revealed that he is retiring Madea in the upcoming A Madea Family Funeral on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy. Today, he released the first trailer for the movie, that comes out on March 1st, and the funeral does not seem to be for her.
Which makes you wonder if he will kill off the character that made him a multi-millionaire?
Between the trailer and this description, “A joyous family reunion turns into a hilarious nightmare as MADEA and the crew travel to backwoods Georgia and unexpectedly plan a funeral, which threatens to reveal sordid family secrets;” we are left waiting four months and a day to find out how we will all be saying goodbye to her.

Yesterday, The Cosby Show’s Geoffrey Owens broke his silence on Good Morning America about working at Trader Joe’s to make ends meet between acting jobs. Shortly after his interview aired, Tyler Perry offered him a job on his OWN show The Haves and Have Nots.
Today, GMA gave us an update and Owens is flying down to Atlanta to appear on the drama. Something that I am sure will make the head of the Oprah Winfrey Network very happy. That is because this is so up her alley.
Congrats to Geoffrey Owens! Personally, I am surprised that he is not doing with Dancing with the Stars. But this offer is so much better. The first of many of offers that will come his way.

You would think he could give you all of the titles, since they are his movies and he starred in them, but he cannot. He did pretty well, but not enough to name them all.
