Doug Davidson has been fired from The Young and The Restless after 40 years
September 11th, 2018 under TV Soaps. [ Comments: 1 ]

On May 23, 1978, fans of The Young and The Restless were introduced to Paul Williams. Forty years, Doug Davidson told his fans, “You all are so wonderful. I so appreciate your support and kindness and love. Thanks for a fabulous career.”

When someone asked him if that meant he was let go, he told them, “It seems so.” Then he told another fan, “It does hurt, to be honest.”

It really does. Out of all of the actors on the show, he has been on the longest. Then to be discarded like this is inexcusable. Especially him. I watched Y&R for a year and he was my favorite character on the daytime soap. Which is why he has been on the show for so long. Everyone likes him.

Y&R has been suffering in the ratings recently, and getting rid of the veterans is going to hurt them even more. Executives think you can get rid of the old timers without any repercussions, but you cannot. One daytime drama cleaned house and tried to skew younger. When their ratings tanked, all of a sudden all of those fired actors found themselves back on the job.

Soaps are not a young person’s show anymore. Therefore, you cannot ignore the viewers if you want to have some.

Hopefully, CBS will realize their mistake and rehire Doug Davidson.

BTWF: Rebecca Herbst for Banner
July 17th, 2018 under Before They Were Famous, TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

Before Rebecca Herbst had the gentle touch as a nurse on General Hospital, she loved the gentle touch of Banner Toilet Paper. How precious is the 7-year-old in that 1984 commercial?

BTWF roles: Eric Braeden on The Mary Tyler Moore Show
October 31st, 2017 under Before They Were Famous, Eric Braeden, MeTV, TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

Before Eric Braeden was one of the most loved people in Genoa City on The Young & The Restless, he was the most hated person at the WJM newsroom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He seriously has not aged a day since that 1977 episode when he was just 35 years old.

That episode was on MeTV over the weekend and I watched it today. I am sure I have seen it before, I just do not remember doing so. Can I tell you, I think it was even better than the Chuckles the Clown episode. The ending is the best! Translation, it is worth the watch.

Steve Burton is returning to General Hospital
June 28th, 2017 under TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 2012 the Soap Opera world was rocked when Steve Burton announced that he was leaving General Hospital. Now 5 years later, he is returning the show. Only one problem, Billy Miller is currently playing the role he made famous. What does that mean for Jason Morgan? Does that mean they will do what Days of our Lives did when Wayne Northrop returned to play Roman Brady and Drake Hogestyn was playing the role and have 2 Jasons? We will just have to tune every weekday to find out. Gotta love Daytime Dramas, even their behind the scenes is a soap opera.

The bitch is back in Salem aka Alison Sweeney is back on Days of our Lives
April 17th, 2017 under TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

A post shared by Ali Sweeney (@alisweeney) on

Back in 2014, the Soap Opera world was shocked when Alison Sweeney announced that she was leaving Salem after 21 years. Now three years later, Sami Brady is coming back to Days of our Lives. She told Soap Opera Digest that she will be filming new episodes in May and June, but did not give any other details like who, why, where and what. That is the stuff we really want to know. That and if there is a chance she will stick a little longer. The NBC Daytime Drama hasn’t been the same since she left.
