Hot off the success of the SAG Award winning Hot in Cleveland, TV Land has picked up two new comedies and renewed Retired at 35 for another season.
Fran Drescher is coming back to TV with her ex-husband in a sitcom loosely based on their lives post-divorce. Happily Divorced is described as a “Los Angeles florist Fran (Drescher) as she deals with dating after finding out her realtor husband of 18 years (John Michael Higgins) is gay. The show focuses on how she juggles her new relationships and her ex-husband post-divorce while still living under the same roof.” Is it just me or is Drescher the new Tony Danza? You know as she can’t play a character without the same first name as her own?
That is not the only new show dealing with divorce, Wayne Knight, Donald Faison and Kristen Johnson are also coming to TV Land. “The Exes revolves around three divorced men, ladies man Phil (Donald Faison), homebody Haskell (Wayne Knight) and newly-single and needy Stuart (David Alan Basche). The men live together in an apartment across the hall from their divorce attorney, Holly (Kristen Johnston), who also happens to be their landlord. Holly avoids her own relationship and commitment issues by becoming immersed in the men’s affairs as they put their lives back together and return to the dating scene.” Interesting casting, can’t wait to see their chemistry.
If this is not enough good news for the sitcom world, TV Land has ordered two more episodes for Hot in Cleveland’s third season bringing their total to 24!
Remember before Hot in Cleveland when they were saying that sitcoms were dead? Well thanks to TV Land for bringing them back to life.
Valerie Bertinelli Tweeted the above picture of her Hot in Cleveland co-star and said, “Check it! @JaneLeeves and Steve Lawrence tonight…YOWZA!!” Yowza is right because she is going to be 50 in a month and she looks like she has the legs of someone half her age. Not only are they Hot in Cleveland, the 5’10” actress’ legs are hot in whatever city she brings them to. I wish not only that I had legs like her, but that they could do what she is doing without screaming in pain.
On a Steve Lawrence note, the 75 year old legend is looking pretty sexy himself under her leg. I wonder how his wife Eydie Gorme of 53 years will feel when she sees this picture or that episode of the hot TV Land show?
The cast of The Facts of Life is joining the cast of Welcome Back Kotter and Family Ties, and reuniting at this year’s TV Land Awards on April 17th. Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields, Nancy McKeon, Lisa Whelchel and Charlotte Rae will at be at the show to accept the Pop Culture Awards. It is the first time that all of them have been together in over 20 years and I can’t wait to see it. If it is anything like the 2007 reunion between Blair and Tootie on a local Texas morning new show, just imagine how much better it will be when Jo, Natalie and Mrs Garrett join in on the reunion!
And if that doesn’t have you jumping out your seat saying “Ooh-ooh-ooooh! Mr Kotter,” this news will because TV Land confirmed today that Gabe Kaplan (Mr. Kotter) and Robert Hegyes (Juan Epstein) will be joining the other Sweathogs to accept their 35th anniversary award. I can’t wait to see all of those Sweathogs today!
Oooo, oooo, oooo, Mr. Kotter, Mr Kotter…John Travolta, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Ron Palillo and Marcia Strassman aka Vinnie Barbarino, Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington, Arnold Horshack and Julie Kotter are all reuniting at the TV Land Awards to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the show. At this point Epstein and Mr Kotter have not confirmed that they will appear at the awards show, but I am sure now that the show’s biggest success agreed to do it, that we will see them when the show airs on April 17th.
Now that TV Land is getting this great cast together, maybe they will consider saying Welcome Back to the show on their lineup? I wish someone would rerun this groovy ’70s sitcom.
TV Land announced that its first scripted show Hot in Cleveland is doing so well in its second season that it deserves a third one. The hit show earned not one but two SAG Award nominations this year and Betty White brought home an Actor! As a huge fan of the show, I am so happy that TV Land not only created this hysterical show starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Mallick and Betty White but they are sticking with it for at least one more season. It gives sitcoms hope that the old formula is not dead!
Now over to Showtime, they are not Shameless when it comes to ordering more Episodes from two of their new shows. William H Macy will be back in his Shameless show and Matt LeBlanc’s show Epsiodes is seeing something Joey didn’t…a second season. I can’t wait to see where they Epsiodes next season. In other words I want to see his huge dick! They talked enough about it, it is time to see it!!!
