Tonight’s Vampire Diaries’ season premiere doesn’t suck!
October 11th, 2012 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight’s season premiere of The Vampire Diaries on The CW at 8p picks up right where we left off and we find out what is Elana’s fate. She has 24 hours to make her decision if she will become the undead or just be dead. Bonnie has a plan that might change that, but someone else has plan that might make all of her efforts null and void. By the end of the episode we will find out if Elena really is a Vampire or human or dead, but that is not the most shocking part of the episode. You have to watch the final seconds of the hour to see what that is…

This show will put an ARROW through your heart!
October 10th, 2012 under DC Comics, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

Arrow makes it debuts on The CW at 8p tonight and you want to be like a Bullseye and catch this show.
Five years ago Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) didn’t have a care in the world, he was a Playboy Billionaire enjoying the lifestyle. Then one fateful boat trip with his father and his then girlfriend’s sister Sarah, a storm will enter their path and change his life forever. Sarah and his father did not survive, and he will spend the next five years on an island in the Pacific presumed to be dead by all that know him. We don’t know what happened him to him on the island, but it had a profuse impact on his life.
When he finally comes home things have changed around him, but the biggest change is him. Now he has a secret identity and he is getting revenge on the people who wronged his family. He is acting a vigilante who wants to return Starling City to its former glory.
During the day he is the son that his mom Moira (Susanna Thompson) is happy to have big back, the big brother that Thea (Willa Holland) knew never died, the best friend to Tommy (Colin Donnell) and the ex-boyfriend to Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). At night he is the Arrow and none of them know that…for now!

Earlier this week I was a press event at DC Comics (can I say that was one of the coolest experiences I ever have had) for the show and Stephen Amell, Executive Producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, and DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, and they let us know what we can expect from this grounded show that puts the super in superhero.

First off why did they go with this DC Comic character over all of the others. After Green Arrow Executive Producer Greg Berlanti wondered which DC Comics characters would translate to television. They went Green Arrow because he is really “grounded”. Then they added it also made sense because the Green Arrow was on Smallville.

Johns let us know that Arrow is two stories in one. “There is the flashback story which at the end of the pilot you see Oliver reaching the island. In episode 2 picks up with him stepping foot on the island for the first time…Ideally the last flashback, in the last episode of the series will be Oliver seeing the boat that rescued him in the pilot.” These flashbacks will also correspond to the present day story.
Amell wanted to add something on the flashbacks, “Based on the hair and makeup though, I’m pretty sure by the end of it, I will wish I would’ve been bitten by a spider.”

Arrow is different than most other superheroes because he is not afraid to kill someone, so Kreisberg explained that by saying, “Oliver doesn’t set out to kill people. But if it has to happen, then it has to happen.” He will have a partner in The Huntress and she will be a darker version of him, who he thinks will be able to save.

A big difference between the comic book and the television one is that Oliver has a sister and his mother his alive. They were added to “populate” his world.

Johns wants you to look out for Easter Eggs tonight. “There are a lot of seeds that were planted in the pilot that won’t grow into a fruition until year 5 in some cases. there were a lot of decisions that we had to make, down to the various tattoos on Oliver’s body and what’s inscribed on that hose that he gives Thea.” Those answers will come at some point, but when has not been determined.

The Royal Flush Gang will make their debut in episode 6. This is an episode that they are very proud of.

Episode 9 airs December 12th and you should mark your calendars for the midseason finale. Heck why not just mark your calendars to watch this show every Wednesday at 8p because it one of the most addictive new shows of the season. Addictive because it is well done show that comic book and non-comic fans can enjoy equally as much.

And on that note DC Comics is introducing a digital comic for the show Arrow today. A new edition will be released every Wednesday. The digital comic will tie in with the show’s stories and fill in important gaps in that television narrative. The show’s writing staff will be contributing to it. These digital comics are a must read for fans of the show because it will give you greater insight into Arrow. On November 28th a print issue of the series will be released and sold for a reasonable price.

Would Jamie Kennedy do the Oh Sit! course?
August 29th, 2012 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

Jamie Kennedy is the co-host of The CW’s action-packed Musical Chairs game show and I spoke with him the other day about Oh Sit!
My first question to him, was he a Musical Chairs champ when he was kid. He told me, “I was much more of a pin the tail on a donkey type of guy.” So was he good at that? “I lost. I lost at pinatas. I lost hide and seek. I lost all of those games which propelled me into a life of standup comedy.”
So if this wasn’t his game (or any of the others) back then, what made him think it would be now. He explained, “They came to me and said, ‘Yo, you want to host this show?’ Then they said Musical Chairs and I was like ‘What?’ And then they explained it to me and they said you can do funny and stuff…They thought it could be loud and crazy like a Japanese game show. So that is why I got involved.” Then he added, “And I love my co-host.” Well if you watch the show then you would know that Jessi Cruickshank said that she is the future ex-Mrs Jamie Kennedy, so I put on my investigative reporter hat and asked him what was going on between them? He shared with me, “You know I have a tendency to date people I sit next to and say lines to, so there is a very good chance, you know, we can make love.” He then added, “And break up.” Hmmm, I wonder who he can be talking about? Can a ghost whisper that answer to me?
Now while he didn’t tell me who that past person was, he did tell me why you should watch Oh Sit! every Wednesday at 8p on The CW. His reason is a good as he explained, “Here is what is exciting about the show, there are a lot of hot people on it. Hot guys and hot girls, but I tend to like the girls more. The show is really an excuse for a wet T-Shirt contest. It’s really cold out there if you know what I am saying. So we’ve turned the temperature way down, turn the difficulty way up and the guests are getting hotter…I just think it is going to get crazy. Watch out!” What more do you need? I mean it is hot men and women in skin tight wet onesies running around getting hurt doing an impossible course and then trying to get across some freezing cold water to sit on a chair. Did we mention skin tight, so nothing is left to the imagination like religion?
But isn’t all about the skin tight wet clothes, here is what he said is coming up in the next few episodes “More sitting, more music and more chairs.” What he also meant to add was more wipeouts and his favorite one came from non-contestant. He let me on a moment that might be coming up on a future episode, “One time our referee fell into the pool…And then he got back out while we were taping and didn’t slip at all. And that was really funny because he started to be all ‘Too cool! Too cool!’ It was completely trippy.”
So now we know why he thinks you should watch it and what can happen to the staff on the show, would he ever do that obstacle course himself? He quickly responded with “No way would I ever. That thing is hard and cold.”
So what is up next for him? He has something in common with the contestants because he told me “More sitting.” Now I couldn’t let him off the call without finding out if there is more nudity in his future like the scene he had in Finding Bliss. His answer was promising, “I have a secret fan club that has liked my nudity. I think the greatest compliment I got, was not that long ago, when a porn star said ‘Hey when the laughs stop slowing in, you ought to come on my side and do some.” If you haven’t seen Finding Bliss, you should watch it as soon as you can because he has a gigantic part in it.
But before you see how big his role is in the movie, watch him hosting Oh Sit! every Wednesday at 9p.
