It has been 41 years since Taxi ended its run, but the cast still likes hanging out with one another. Case in point Carole Kane, Danny DeVito, and Tony Danza got together to see their friend Rhea Perlman in her Off-Broadway show Let’s Call Her Patty.
I have a theory that the reason why some series last in syndication for so long, like Taxi, is because the cast sincerely gets along. The viewers can feel their chemistry, and that is why we enjoy watching. And that is why we are still watching their sitcom after all of these decades. That, and because it was absolutely brilliant and hilarious.
Before Judd Hirsch was divorced on Taxi, he was married with Whirlpool Appliances. He looks the same now as he did when he was 40 in that 1975 commercial.
Tony Danza is performing in NYC, and some of his old friends from his Taxi days decided to do lunch with him. Those friends are Christopher Lloyd (Reverend Jim), Judd Hirsch (Alex), and Carol Kane (Simka).
They all look so happy together. It’s hard to believe that their sitcom is turning 45 later this year. Do you believe it? Because they all look fantastic!
I have a theory that shows do well in syndication if the casts still get along long after the series ended. Case in point, Taxi is still streaming after all of these decades.
Andy Kaufman was one of the most brilliant comedians who ever lived (and I am not saying this because Taxi is my favorite show), even though he died from lung cancer at the age of 35 in 1984. He still left his mark on television and in the wrestling world.
Kaufman declared himself the Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World because he wrestled women. However, he was most famous in that world for taking Jerry Lawler on during Late Night with David Letterman. The two wrestled with each other on the show, and everyone thought it was real. It wasn’t.
Why am I telling you this? Because Variety is reporting that he is going to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year.
And I know he is looking down and smiling from ear to ear. I hope that Bobby Clifton is there to accept the honor on March 31st. You can watch the ceremony on Peacock.
Over the weekend, Michael J Fox reunited with his Back to the Future mother, Lea Thompson, best friend, Christopher Lloyd, and bully Tom Wilson over the weekend at Fan Expo Portland.
It might’ve been 28 years since they started working together. But they still look as close and as friendly as ever. Maybe, they would even consider giving us one more BTTF that takes place today. How cool would it be to see them traveling to a different time from our time?
