In last night’s two-hour finale of So You Think You Can Dance – which featured performances by Ciara and Fergie — swing dancer Benji Schwimmer, 22, was crowned America’s favorite dancer. He takes home $100,000 cash, a hybrid SUV, and a contract with Celine Dion’s show in Las Vegas. And though Dion made an appearance at the end of the show, congratulating the hoofer via video satellite, in an interview with Us last week, Benji said that he’s considering passing the offer on to one of his cast mates, so he can concentrate on breaking into acting. Us: What will you do with the money if you win? B: Give some to church, give some to my charity and spend a little bit and invest the rest. I have a charity called DEMAND which stands for Dancers Everywhere Making A Needed Difference and we work with underprivileged children in Mexico and we also help other dancers out in the community who may have injured themselves and can’t support themselves we get them back on their feet. Us: So would you take the Celine Dion job? B: (sings) “My heart will go oooonnnnn…” I think more than anything, if I was to have that offer, I would give it to one of these 2 [cast mates] here and let them take it because they are the dancers fit to do that. We didn’t even know about the Celine Dion contract until we actually made the show so that was never my goal to receive a contract, my goal was to be on the show for the exposure, to be challenged as a dancer. Us: You guys haven’t heard from any celebrities about how they love the show have you? B: Tyce — that’s my choreographer – he is friends with Tobey Maguire and said that Tobey is a huge fan of the show and wants to do a dance movie. I couldn’t believe it. So I asked Tyce again and once again he’s like no I talked to him he’s dead serious… Us:How would you feel about doing a movie? B: I definitely want to get into acting. That’s without a doubt. I want to get into television and movies. When I was younger, I was doing a lot of commercials and I was on Full House. Us: You were on Full House? B: Reluctantly. I was 5 years old. Us: How is a 5 year old reluctant? B: I am reluctant now because when I did it they dubbed my voice over, there was bad sound or something and some Chinese lady dubbed over my voice…it was stupid.
Us Weekly
I would rather him go to Broadway and Travis Wall go to Celine!

He’s the one who taught Kathie Lee Gifford how to do the West Coast Swing on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" when he was 10. Benji Schwimmer is the one who never let the teasing discourage his passion for dancing. On Wednesday night, the Redlands man was the one America wanted to win.Schwimmer, 22, captured the hearts — and votes — of viewers of the nationally televised prime-time reality dance program "So You Think You Can Dance."Schwimmer thought he could dance and dance very well. Viewers agreed. He took the title in the show’s second season, besting thousands of tryouts, 20 finalists and the three other final-four selections.More than 10 million viewers tuned in last week as Schwimmer; Donyelle Jones, 26, of Studio City; Travis Wall, 18, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and Heidi Groskreutz, 26, of Cliffside Park, N.J., performed their final pairs and solo routines. The latter is Schwimmer’s cousin and longtime dancing partner, which helped them survive several weeks of eliminations because the two teamed for the various dancing challenges."I want to throw a parade for the Inland Empire," a shocked Schwimmer said by telephone afterward from a limousine leaving CBS Television City studios.Schwimmer won $100,000 for his efforts, plus a sport utility vehicle and a contract to work with Celine Dion.During a brief interview, he said he was preparing to catch a red-eye flight to perform on "Live With Regis and Kelly" in New York City. It would be the second time Schwimmer would visit talk-show veteran Regis Philbin. In 1994 Schwimmer appeared on what was then "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee" and taught Philbin’s co-host how to swing.Dancing is in the Schwimmer bloodline. Both parents are known for dancing and teaching the West Coast Swing at 5678 Dance Studio in Redlands. Buddy Schwimmer’s alias is the King of Swing.Schwimmer’s mother, Laurie, 47, said her son persevered despite years of teasing from those who questioned his masculinity."He got all kinds of teasing about his dancing," Laurie Schwimmer said. "It would have been the easy way out to just stop. He’s been through a lot of trials. Being called gay. It was hard for him growing up to be a straight guy dancing."She said her son set realistic goals when he tried out for the show. First, he wanted to make the final 20, then survive week No. 1 and then make the top 10.Schwimmer is now finding out that some of those earlier hecklers are now his fans."Now, they’re cheering for him," Laurie Schwimmer said. "He told me, ‘These are the same kids that were teasing me in high school.’ "

Since I live in LA, I made my dad in NY watch the show and I listened live as it was announced that Benji Scwimmer is the winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 2?! I cheered in my car and in fact I got teary eyed. With all the reality shows I watch, I have not wanted anyone to win as much as Benji since Clay Aiken. So if that gives you a hint, Benji is the first one I wanted to win that won! Anyways I am so glad he won because he so deserved it! He was an underdog who took it all the way! I might break my never go to Vegas again rule and see him with Celine Dion! Anyone with me?
One last Benji! Benji! Benji! ! !
BTW I love this picture because he really looks like a dancer there!

Who will be crowned King or Queen tonight on SYTYCD? |

Benji, Heidi or Travis? I am so hoping I that hear Benji is the King tonight, but Travis has a good chance at more than one royal title tonight! Yes I know there are no pictures of Donyelle in this post, but she has a snowball chance in hell of winning! If she wasn’t with Benji from day one she never would have gone this far. Benji! Benji! Benji! Benji!
