In October, Henry Cavill reprised his role in Superman in Black Adam and then announced he was going to make another movie as Clark Kent. That reveal made fans very happy.
However, their happiness is going to go away faster than a speeding bullet. That is because James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new heads of DC Studios, announced they are making a new Superman movie with that will take place earlier in his life.
Cavill took to social media to confirm the news. “It’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. I respect that James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”
I am going to say something wildly unpopular, but I agree with Gunn and Safran. The DC Comic movies of this century have sucked. So I am happy they are moving on and restarting the brand. Maybe their films will be as Marvel’s now.
We first saw Henry Cavill as Superman in 2013, but he has not had his own feature as the Man of Steel since the Man of Steel. He starred alongside Batman and the Justice League in two movies, but he never got his own sequel.
That was until now. “I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you a chance to watch Black Adam,” the actor said today. “I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman. The image you see on this post and what you saw in Black Adam are just a very small taste of things to come. There’s a lot to be thankful for, and I’ll get to that in time, but I wanted to thank you guys most of all for your support and your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”
So he will not follow Brandon Routh’s path as one and done.
No word when, I am assuming The Dawn of Hope, will be released, but I am sure the fans will love it. Hopefully, it is better than Man of Steel, but it would have to be dreadful to be worse than that film.
Before Marcia Gay Harden was asking So Help Me Todd, she got help from Man of the Steel in Superman’s 50th Anniversary. She looks the same now as she did when she was 28 in that 1988 mockumentary.
A few weeks ago, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland broke the world wide spider web when Sony shared a photo of themselves dressed as their Spider-Man recreating the infamous cartoon meme with their character.
Today, their movie Spider-Man: No Way Home came out on digital. So, Sony released a video of the three of them making the meme. It is the rare instance where the making of is better than the final product.
I hope the next Peter Parker movie is just the three of them saving the world from the bad guy.
What happens when you put a bunch of Spider-men from the Spiderverse together at the Madrid Comic Pop Up? You get the oddest Conga Line you will ever see. One that I want to be part of because it looks like so much fun. Do you want to be woven into their web?
